Genesis Sum Of The Parts
Sum Of the Parts is the documentary about legendary British rock group Genesis which it's on DVD. On this documentary it talks about the formation in 1967 @ Chaterhouse where Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Peter Gabriel were students,began recording in the late 60's, the departure of original founding member Anthony Phillips in 1970, Phil Collins and steve Hackett joining in 1970, the great success in the early 70's with albums like Foxtrot and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway as well as their stage act, the departures of peter Gabriel in 1975 and Steve Hackett in 1977, the trio line-up of Mike, Tony and Phil which they went on to move to shorter immediate songs and would achieve the great success in the 80's and 90's as well as their own projects with Mike doing the Mike and the Mechanics as well as Tony,Steve, Peter and Phil doing solo work which proved very successful with Peter and Phil, the reunion tour in 2007 and others. It is an EXCELLENT,FANTASTIC and an BRILLIANT DVD with great stories which it is very entertaining and an very enjoyable one and there is great footage on it as well. This DVD has interviews with the members Tony,Peter, Mike,Phil,Anthony and Steve as well as people like manager Tony Smith, Jonathan King who produced Genesis' early recordings as well as giving them the name Genesis, tour drummer Chester Thompson, Daryl Stuemer, Chris Roberts music journalist, Ed Goodgold tour promoter and the bonus stuff on the DVD are the interviews that were not on the documentary. John Edginton did the directing, Tony Smith was the executive producer for the group, Jan Younghusband was the executive for the BBC and Jo Greenwood was the Project co-coordinator and Craig McLean did the liner notes. Genesis have not performed together since 2007 but Peter,Tony,Mike Phil and Steve got back together to be part of the documentary and this DVD is a must for any Genesis fans which I give this 4 and an half stars which it's in the shops now so do yourself a favour and BUY IT.
