Unbroken
Last Friday January 16th I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie Unbroken. Louie Zamperini(Jack O'Connell) an American athlete and Olympian who ran in the 1936 Olympics is serving in the American Air Force during the second world war and had been in an near fatal air plane crash which he is on an life raft for 47 days until he is captured by the Japanese navy and is sent to a Prisoner of War camp in Tokyo which it is headed by a Japanese corporal named Mutsuhiro"The Bird" Watanabe (Miyavi) and he treats Louie very cruelly as well as beating him often and who never gave up which gets interesting throughout the movie. It is sad, touching, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with BRILLIANT by Jack O'Connell, Miyavi, CJ Valleroy who played the young Louie, Alex Russell who played Louie's brother Pete, Domhnall Gleeson who played Russell Phil Phillips, Finn Wittrock as Francis 'Mac" McNamara, Garrett Hedlund,Jai Courtney, Luke Treadaway and others. This is based on the book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand as it is a biography about Louie Zamperini as well as being filmed in Australia in Queensland and New South Wales. Angelina Jolie directed it as well as producing with Matthew Baer, Erwin Stoff and Clayton Townsend and screenplay done by Joel and Ethan Cohen, William Nicholson and Richard LaGravenese as well as the cinematography by Roger Deakins. Louie Zamperini passed away on July 2nd 2014 aged 97 and this film has done very well at the box office. I give this 5 stars and it's currently running at the cinemas now so do yourself a favour and SEE IT.
