Classic Albums Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul
For the second time this week let's have another look at the classic album segment with the 1965 album Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul by American Soul singer Otis Redding. It was recorded at Stax Recording Studios in Memphis on April 9th and July 9th-10th 1965 and it was released September 15th 1965 which went to number 75 in the USA pop charts, number 1 in the USA R&B charts and number 6 in the UK where it went silver there. It was produced by Jim Stewart, Issac Hayes and David Porter and the album has mainly covers but it has 3 songs written by Otis. From that album had the hit singles Respect number 31 in the USA pop charts and number 4 in the USA R&B, I've Been Loving You Too Long number 21 in the USA pop charts and number 2 in the USA R&B charts, Shake number 47 in the USA pop charts and number 16 in the USA R&B charts, Satisfaction number 31 in the USA pop charts, number 4 in the USA R&B charts and number 33 in the UK and My Girl going to number 11 in the UK. It's an FANTASTIC album with great songs which has stood the test of time and an great vocal performance by Otis backed up by Booker T and the MG's, The Mar Keys and the Memphis Horns . This is one the best albums in the history of rock and soul and it one of his best albums that he made which it was this album that helped Otis going to the pop market. This album is still in the shops somewhere and do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be amazed and impressed.
