It's an very funny, FANTASTIC and entertaining Movie with great acting by Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau which it was the second movie they did together as the first was Fortune Cookie in 1966 which Walter Matthau won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar along with the other acting by Larry Haines who was known to soap fans as Stu Bergman on the American Daytime Soap Search For Tomorrow which he was there from 1951-86, Herb Edelman who went on to play Stan (Dorothy's ex Husband ) on the Golden Girls as well as the Good Guys from 1968-70, David Sheiner and John Fielder. It was based on the Broadway play done by Neil Simon who did the screenplay for the movie which he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay as well as Frank Bracht for Film Editing and Walter Matthau reprised his role as Oscar as he was in the Broadway play. It was directed by Gene Saks who was married to Bea Arthur who would go on to play Maude in the TV show Maude from 1972-78 as well as Dorothy in the Golden Girls. It was released May 2nd 1968 which was an huge success as it was the 3rd grossing film for 1968 and it was the movie's success that would lead to the TV series of the same name that starred Tony Randall and Jack Klugman which started from 1970-75. It holds up very well to this day with great acting as well as the humor and I'm sure the DVD is in the shops somewhere which if you want to buy it do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed.
