For this week's classic movies let's have a look at the 1964 movie The Killers. Charlie (Lee Marvin) and Lee(Clu Gualer) are 2 professional hitmen who shot and killed Johnny North (John Cassavettes ) at an blind school where he worked and they are aware that Johnny had been involved in an million dollar robbery as he too was an race car driver and they go to meet those who knew Johnny which they mentioned Sheila (Angie Dickinson) and mob boss Jack Browning (Ronald Reagan) and it gets very interesting, It's an FANTASTIC movie with FANTASTIC performances by Lee Marvin, Clu Gualer, John Cassavettes, Ronald Reagan and Angie Dickinson. This was an re-make of the 1946 movie that starred Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner and it was intended to be one of the first Made for TV movies but it was too violent by NBC so Universal released it theatrically. It was the last movie for Ronald Reagan as an actor before going into politics becoming Governor Of California from 1967-75 and the 40th President of the United States from 1981-89 and this was only movie that he ever played an villain in his career as an actor. It was directed by Don Seigel who also produced it and John Williams and Henry Mancini did the music which Nancy Wilson sang Too Little Time and also Lee Marvin won the Best Actor BAFTA award for this movie along with his dual roles in Cat Ballou.
