Classic Albums Rise by Daryl Braithwaite
For this week's classic albums let's have a look at the 1990 album Rise by Daryl Braithwaite. It was recorded at the Metropolis Audio in Melbourne from July-October 1990 and it was released November 23rd 1990 which went to number 3 in Australia as it sold over 300,000 copies. From the album it had 5 singles- Rise number 23 Australia, the Horses number 1 Australia, Higher Than Hope number 28 Australia and number 47 USA, Don't Hold Back Your Love number 55 Australia and Nothing To Lose number 100 and the album went 4 times platinum. It was produced by Simon Hussey and Among the musicians who were who played on the album was Tommy Emmanuel who played electric guitar on 2 tracks and John Farnham did back up vocals on some tracks as well as Shirley Strachan did back up on 1 song and Margaret Urlich did the backing vocals on The Horses. It's an great album with great songs which has stood very to this day and still sounding great as it did back then as we hear some of these songs still on the radio including The Horses. It's 30 years since the album came out and I would like to see it reissued on CD again maybe including bonus tracks that we never heard so let's hope.
