Russell Morris @ Bayside Music Hall
Last night I went to the Bayside Music Hall in Wynnum for the second time this long weekend to see the legendary Australian singer Russell Morris which the last time I saw him was 3 years ago as part of the APIA Good Times show @ QPAC Friday May 31st 2019. I caught the bus from Carindale to Cannon Hill, then another bus from Cannon Hill to Wynnum, walk to Wynnum RSL, rang home, ordered my meal, bought Coke Zero and waited. Had Chicken Parmigiana, chips and sald for dinner, drank Zero, ate Bread Roll and walk to the Bayside Music Hall. Went inside, write notes and then Kimberley Bowden an local singer-songwriter which she did mainly her own songs as well as doing Take Me Home Country Roads which she was great and an good sense of humour as well as entertaining the crowd. There was an interval which I went to the toilet, drank Coke Zero and use my mobile. Then at 8.13pm Russell Morris came out on stage with his band including Peter Robertson on guitar and on drums John Creech from the Mixtures and Bluestone and for the next 1 hour and 19 minutes Russell performed many of his hits from the 60's and 70's as well as tracks from his recent blues albums which as he has released the new album The Dreams of Jack Chrome as well as telling stories about his career which he mentions Molly Meldrum as well as Jim Keays when he mentioning he had doubts about releasing Sharkmouth as well as 2 of his songs being in the movie the Dish and even Peter the guitar sang an song briefly which was great and also Russell performed Part 3 Into Paper Walls which was an hit in 1969 written by Johnny Young which was the first time I have seen him perform the song live. The show finished at 9.32pm which he finished it with the Neil Young song Rockin In the Free World and he had CD's on sale after the show which he came to sign them as well as having photos with the fans which I got 2 of his recent CD's and the 45 single from 1975 Let's Do It signed as well as getting an photo with him as well as getting Kimberley Bowden's autograph when I bought her CD's and an photo as well, waited outside, Dad picked me up, stopped at petrol station, bought Ice Cream and Coke Zero and came home. It was an FANTASTIC show which everyone had an great time and I had an great time too and Russell is still sounding great better than ever as well as entertaining the crowds with the classic hits that he made famous in the 60's and 70's which still endures to this day as well as tracks from his recent albums which it is great to see that is still appreciated it as well as telling stories and an great sense of humor as well as an great back band with Peter who produced Russell's albums in recent years playing Fantastic guitar as well as Warren on bass and John Creech on drums. I look forward to seeing Russell again in the future and to those who have not seen him please do yourselves an favour and see this legendary Australian singer which you will be impressed and amazed.
