Rock'N'Roll 1959
On Sunday June 25th I went to the New Farm Cinema to see the Australian movie Rock n Roll 1959 and it was filmed at the Sydney Stadium in October 1959 in the day time and night time which it was released on October 30th 1959 which was shown in Sydney and Melbourne as well as New Zealand and then it disappeared which for 60 years it was thought it was lost but it was found in Melbourne in 2020 which the tape was in excellent condition so it now getting shown gradually in the cinemas. On the Film it has the australian music performers with The Delltones, Johnny Rebb and the Rebels, Johnny Devlin, Lonnie Lee, The Crescents, The Graduates, Warren Williams, Col Joye and the Joy Boys and Johnny O'Keefe and the Dee Jays performing songs they had released at the that time as well as covers of the songs that was out at that time and also was American singer Fabian was in the film but was removed after objections from Fabian's management. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with great songs and an real history lesson of Australian rock and roll as it was at it's early stages as most of these acts in the film had their first hits that year which they would become legendary and also it is well worth watching as it's the only rock live show from the 1950's that has survived. It is starting getting shown all around the country which to those in Brisbane is still shown at Graceville and New Farm until next week so do yourselves an favour and WATCH IT whivh you will be impressed an amazed watching Australian rock n roll at it's great period.
