4BH December 1954

This is from the Telegraph December 11th 1954 and now the classic hits station here in Brisbane 4BH was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 50's which among their disc jockeys was Bob Rogers who had been with the station since 1950 as he would be there until 1957 which he would achieve great success on Sydney radio hosted the show on 4BH called Melody and Rhythm which was on at 10.30 which featured an exclusive interview with American singer Billy Daniels who was touring Australia that time.

4KQ December 1954

This is from the Telegraph December 11th 1954 and long before known as the Good Times and Great Classic Hits station as well as being an country music station in the 80's 4KQ was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 50's which they did music back then as their shows on Saturday night were Saturday Night Barbecue at 7.30pm, Follies Parade at 8pm, 4KQ Hit Parade at 8.30pm and Night Owl's Club at 9pm.

This afternoon I went to the Events Cinema Carindale to see the movie Nuremberg. It's May 7th 1945 the before the war ends in Europe Hermann Goring (Russell Crowe) who had been Hitler's second in command as well as the notorious former Reichsmarschall along with his family surrenders to the American troops in Austria and Dr Douglas Kelley (Rami Malek) has been assigned to access the mental state of Goring and the other Nazi officials while Justice Robert Jackson(Michael Shannon) is at the task of creating an interntional tribunial which it happens in Numremberg with the press coming while Kelley gets to know his patients including Goring and it gets interesting with the happening. It is Sad, Amazing, Fantastic and Superb with Amazing acting by Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, Michael Shannon, Richard E Grant, Leo Woodall, John Slattery and Colin Hanks and directed by James Vanderbilt who also did the screenplay and was also one of the producers with Richard Saperstein, Bradley...

4BC December 1970

These are from the Telegraph December 10th 1970 and now the talk back station as it is the only commercial one here in Brisbane 4BC was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the early 70's which among their personalities was Michelle (Mitch) O'Driscoll who was on Monday to Thursday at 6pm and on Sunday at 7.30pm and the news readers were Johnny James, John Treacy, Murray Dickson and Lance Broughton which they would get people to phone their news tips to the newsman.

This is the memoir of American musician and member of the legendary American rock band The Lemonheads Evan Dando and in the book he talks about upbringing in Essex Massachusetts, moving to Boston at age 9, his parents divorce, started playing guitar at age 10/11, meeting Ben Deily and Jesse Peretz at Commonwealth School, formed the band the Whelps before becoming the Lemonheads who would achieve great success with their version of the Simon & Garfunkel song Mrs Robinson as well as albums including It's A Shame About Ray and Come On Feel The Lemonheads, his issues with drugs, encounters with people including Kurt Cobain, The Ramones, Ozzy Osbourne and Mudhoney, playing with the Blake Babies and many others. This is the posthumous memoir of Canadian musician, songwriter and founding member of the iconic Canadian rock group The Band Robbie Robertson and in this book talks about his friendship with iconic director Martin Scorsese as well as behind the scenes of the Last Waltz, Raging Bull and Carny, encounters with Robert De Niro, Gary Busey, Jennifer O'Neill, British director Michael Powell, Andy Warhol and Isabella Rossellini and many others. It is FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with FANTASTIC and AMAZING stories covering the period between 1977-80 which it also very impressive and very entertaining and it is well worth a read. This is from the Telegraph December 8th 1964 and now the classic hits station here in Brisbane 4BH was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 60's which among their disc jockeys was Dal Myles who would manage the Brisbane rock group the Five known for the hit single I'll Be There was on Monday to Friday from 7.30pm until 10pm which there was a competition as the listeners would win a transisitor radio as well as other fine prizes in the Slithery Dee Contest.

Mania by Stuart "Woody" Wood

This is the autobiography of Scottish musician and an member of the legendary Scottish band The Bay City Rollers Stuart "Woody" Wood and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Edinburgh, got a recorder as well as cornet as well as learning to play piano, played in an three piece jazz band, played in the band Freezin Heet, joined the Bay City Rollers in 1974 which he is still with them to this day who played on many of the classics including Summer Love Sensation, Shang A Lang, Bye Bye Baby and Money Honey, the issues behind the scenes, living in South Africa and many others. It is FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with AMAZING and SUPERB stories as well as very impressive and very entertaining which it is well worth a read indeed. This is from the Telegraph December 7th 1967 and now the talk back station as it is the only commercial one here in Brisbane 4BC was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 60's which besides an music station it also promoted shows which in that month on the Saturday the station did the Christmas Dance Spectacular at the Festival Hall in Brisbane which it was compered by Tony MacArthur who was one of 4BC's disc jockeys at that time and the acts at the show were Australian acts Ronnie Burns, the Twilights and the Cherokees with Brisbane acts The Flamingoes, Jon Blanchfield and the Soul Survivors.

4IP December 1967

This is from the Telegraph December 7th 1967 and until 1992 when it became 4TAB which it is now Radio TAB 4IP was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 60's as they were starting to make a impact in Brisbane having been originally an Ipswich radio station since 1935 which among their disc jockeys was Billy J Smith who would be hugely successfully on Brisbane TV with Sportsworld as well as the national show It's A Knockout in the 80's which he and the Swinging Sound Guys played the Top 40, latest news and Prizes galore.

This is from the Telegraph December 7th 1967 and until 1990 when it became B105 4BK was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 60's which among their disc jockeys was Bill Gates who had joined the station early that year having been with 4BH for 9 years since 1957 who was the one who gave the Bee Gees their name as well as the record hops around Brisbane including the O'Connor Boathouse who was on North Quay was on Sundays from 8am until noon playing the happy modern music as well as doing the Breakfast Show Monday to Friday from 5.30am as well as doing Live Wire from 8am talking to the listeners.

This is from the Telegraph December 6th 1956 and now the classsic hits station here in Brisbane 4BH was one of Brisbane's popula radio stations at the time in the 1950's which among their shows that was on at that time was the talent show Australia's Amateur Hour which was hosted by Terry Dear that was on at 8pm and this particular show the guest was iconic American singing star Frankie Laine.

This is from the Telegraph December 5th 1972 and now the talk back station as it is the only commercial one here in Brisbane 4BC was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the early 70's which they were still playing music which among their radio personalities were Ron Saywell who had been with 4IP in the 60's and later worked at 4BK which is now B105 and 4GG did the Breakfast Show and Mike Ahern who had done the pirate radio Station Radio Caroline in England before coming to Australia in the 60's was on in the afternoon at 2pm every day.
