Old Rockers Get Together 2013

On Sunday April 7th 2013 I went to the Old ROckers Get Together @ the Riverside Ballroom in new Farm which it was my 4th time going to the show and also it is the last one put together by Vance and Toni Lendich. Dad took me to Norman Park which I caught the Ferry from there to New Farm and When I arrived I got the 2 CD's I ordered the Countdown(an Brisbane Music Show on Channel 10 in the 60's) as well as the cloudland Sounds Of Seven as well. The Show started @ 11am with the first band being Poor Man's Sons which they did an great set and in the interval an lady who works for the QIMR said an few words as well as meeting Rob Richards founding member of the late 50's and early 60's rock group The Planets, Bob Gunn of the 50's and 60's Brisbane group The Hucklebucks and Keith Kerwin guitarist of the legendary Brisbane pop group the Avengers when he replaced both Roger Jellicoe and Graeme Rabnott (Both Bob and Keith are my facebook friends) which I got autographs and photos. Winkles came on next which included Vance on bass and singing with them were Barry Schultz (The Corvettes), Julie Paris, an guy named ROn and Barry Lather who was the doing the Johnny O'Keefe stuff which sounded great, met Robert Morgan and John Connor(Country Graveyard an Brisbane group in the late 60's who were the support act for the Easybeats in 1969) and Jeff Bean(the Corvettes/The Pacifics) which I got autographs and photos, bought an book about the Cloudland Ballroom written by Jim Lergessner who was there on the day selling the book and for lunch had lasanga, chips and salad for lunch. The Sonics who celebrated 50 years last year were on next which they did an FANTASTIC set doing the Shadows stuff as well as doing an Duane Eddy medley along with Jim Hansen doing the early Cliff Richard stuff, after their set met Mandy Sheridan(Sandy and Mandy) who sang on the Brisbane music show Teen Beat on QTQ 9 in the 60's who is also my facebook friend and her husband Keith Johnson who was in the later years of the Brisbane group the Planets which I got autographs and photos and had an trivia which i won an scratchee when I answered an question about the Box tops song the Letter. The Dominoes came on next who celebrated 50 years last year which they did an FANTASTIC set doing classic rock songs and yes Bobby Wilde did turn up this time which he sang great, met Sherry Wheeler who is married to Darryl Wright of the Dominoes and the Flamingoes and an well known singer in brisbane in the 60's as well as hosting shows on Channel 10 in the 60's and 70's which I got an autograph and an photo and met Bobby Wilde which I got his autograph. The Avengers came on next which they did an great set as usual doing classic rock and pop songs, bought the music magazine that andrew ainsworth has just released which it has an interview with Jimmy Hannon of the Brisbane 60's group the Escorts and had an conversation with Robin the drummer from the Sonics. Gingerbread came on next which they did an great set which at one point Glenn dressed as Rock Vegas doing Elvis songs and also got autographs and photos with Brian Gagen and Vance of the Planets, met Cliff Turpin which I got an Cliff richard tribute CD and Paul Schorr another member of the Brisbane band the Escorts which I got an autograph and an photo. Flash came on which dimples were supposed to come but did'nt did some great songs and then I got picked up by Ross Garnett (anita's Dad) which I was going to my friend Oriel's 30th birthday party @ Ascot which i left the Riverside Ballroom before 5.30pm. It was an FANTASTIC and an AWESOME show which I had an great time and the bands were FANTASTIC which they all played great and at the show saw Bob,Vivian,Andrew,Kay Howick(Bay FM 100.3), judy . Jim, Kerry and besides from the musicians I met on the day which was an honor and an thrill I saw Mike,Les,George and Darryl(The Dominoes), Bob,RObin,Rod and Jim(The Sonics), Brian Gagen from the Planets, barry Lather, Barry Schultz, Paul and Stan(Poor Man's Sons), John Knox ,Graeme,Barth,Roger and Paul(the Avengers) and Barry Wirth (the Embers).
