Classic Albums-Deja Vu by Crosby Stills Nash and Young
For this week's classic album segment let's have a look at the 1970 album by legendary American rock group Crosby Stills Nash and Young called Deja Vu. The recording of that album was @ Wally Heider's Studio III in Los Angeles which it lasted 5 months from July to December 1969 and it was released on March 11th 1970 where it had number 1 in the USA on May 16th where it stayed there for 1 week, number 1 in Australia on July 13th where it stayed there for 2 weeks and number 5 in the UK. The album was produced by the group themselves with Bill Halverson as engineer, Henry Diltz and Tom Gundelfinger doing the photography and Gary Burden doing the art direction and design and from the album it had 3 hit singles which includes 2 written by Graham Nash Teach Your Children which Jerry Garcia of the Greatful Dead played pedal steel guitar and Our House. It is a excellent album with great songs and a great sound with great harmonies and the songs on the album holds up very well today which still sounds great and also besides from Jerry Garcia John Sebastian of legendary American 60's group the Lovin Spoonful played harmonica on the title track, Dallas Taylor played drums and bassist Greg Reeves played on 6 tracks. This album was the 2nd album for Crosby Stills and Nash but it was the first for Neil Young who had joined the others a year before which they played Woodstock and Altamont and the songs on this album were except for 1 track were recorded as individual sessions by each member and also Neil Young was not on all the tracks. This album is still in the shops and do yourself a favour and BUY IT which I'm sure you will enjoy listening to this album.
