For this week's classic album segment and the last one for the year let's have a look at the 1972 album by American singer Stevie Wonder called Talking Book. The recordings of the album was held at Air Studios on London,Electric Lady Studios in New York, Crystals Studio in Los Angeles and Record Plant also in Los Angeles and it was released on October 28th 1972 which it went to number 3 in the USA, number 1 in the USA R&B charts and no 16 in the UK which it went gold. Stevie Wonder produced it with Robert Margouleff and Malcolm Cecil and Steve wrote all the songs including 2 with his ex wife and singer Syreeta Wright and 1 with Yvonne Wright which from this album it had 2 hit singles You Are the Sunshine Of My Life which was number 1 as well as winning a Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and Superstition which was also number 1 and would win a Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B song . It is a excellent album with great songs that still endures to this day and besides from the hits it has other great songs including I believe When I fall In Love It Will Be Forever, Big Brother, You and I and others and it is real funky and rocky which he was using synthesizers, Hohner Clavinet,Moog Bass, drums, harmonica and piano which among other musicians who played on the album were legendary british guitarist Jeff Beck, Ray PArker Jr who went on to have the hit single in 1984 Ghostbusters as well as backing singer Deniece Williams who would go on to have hits in the 80's including Free, Silly and Let's Hear It FOr the Boy. This album was at the time when Stevie was having a very successful and creative period with classic albums which it started with Music Of My Mind that was in March 1972, this album, Innervisions and many others which would become very successful throughout the 70's as well as Stevie was enjoying more artistic freedom from Motown. This album is still in the shops and be sure to buy it which I'm sure you will enjoy listening to this album.
