White Light/White Heat 45th Anniversary Deluxe Edition The Velvet Underground
White Light White Heat was the second album for American rock group the Velvet Underground as it was the last album for member John Cale who left in September that year which it was released on January 30th 1968 which it went to number 199 in the USA where it stayed for only 2 weeks and despite that it has remained one of the great classic rock albums of all time which it was ranked no 293 by Rolling Stone magazine in the top 500 greatest albums of all time and it has released again as it's 45 years when it came out. In this double CD 45th Anniversary Deluxe Edition it has the original 6 original tracks including the 17 minute track Sister Ray and the 8 minute track the Gift as well as alternate version and outtakes including a version of Beginning To See the Light which would eventually be on the self titled album in 1969 and the second CD has a live recording in New York at the Gymnasium April 30th 1967. It's experimental, ROCKIN and BRILLIANT with a great sound from a great band and it holds up very well to this day which still sounds so good. David Fricke who works for Rolling Stone did the liner notes, Kevin Reeves did the mastering @ the 4th Floor Studios in New York and Andy Skurow did the tape research at the Universal Tape Vault. 2 months ago member and songwriter Lou Reed passed away on OCtober 27th aged 71 which this CD was in the works prior to his passing and it's great way to honor his work which his music will live on forever. This CD is a must for Velvet Underground fans and I am giving this 5 stars which it's in the shops now so do yourself a favour and BUY IT.
