4BK Top 10 February 12th 1964
This is from the Telegraph February 12th 1964(60 Years ago today) and this is the 4BK top 10 with the Beatles at number 1 with I Want To Hold Your Hand, the Beatles at number 2 with I Saw Her Standing There which was from the Please Please Me album, the Beatles at number 3 with She Loves You, Jimmy Hannan who at that time was hosting the music show Saturday Date was at number 4 with Beach Ball which was an cover of the City Surfers song which had Roger McGuinn before the Byrds, Bobby Darin and Terry Melcher and was written by Roger (Jim as he was back then) McGuinn and Frank Gari with the Bee Gees on backing vocals, Little Pattie at number 5 with He's My Blonde Headed Stompie wompie Real Gone Surfer Boy written by Jay Justin , The Dave Clark Five at number 6 with Glad All Over, Frank Ifield at number 7 with Please, Brian Poole and the Tremeloes at number 8 with their version of the Contours song Do You Love Me, Jimmy Gilmer and the Fireballs at number 9 with Daisy Petal Pickin and Kathy Kirby at number 10 with her version of the Doris Day song Secret Love which was from the 1953 movie Calamity Jane. It was at this time that The Beatles had their debut appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show (February 9th) and the British Invasion was gradually happening as the music scene was changing.
