This is the autobiography of the iconic American rock group the Beach Boys and in this book the surviving members Brian Wilson, AL Jardine, Mike Love and Bruce Johnston along with archival interviews with Dennis and Carl Wilson talks about their upbringings in California, getting into music, their influences, forming the group that would be the Beach Boys, began recording which they would achieve the great success with classics including Surfin Surfari, Surfin USA, Surfer Girl, Fun Fun Fun, I Get Around, Help Me Rhonda, California Girls, Sloop John B, God Only Knows, Would'nt It Be Nice, Good Vibrations and many others, the touring, the making of the albums including Pet Sounds, line up changes, the diffcult period in the late 60's and 70's and it has contributions from people like Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac), Roger McGuinn of the Byrds, Elvis Costello, Pete Townshend(The Who), Eric Clapton, Jim Kerr(Simple Minds), Bruce Springsteen, Graham Nash(The Hollies/Crosby Stills nash and Young) and Jimmy Page(The Yardbirds/Led Zeppelin). It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC and AWESOME Stories going through the journey from the beginning up to 1980 as well as very impressive and very entertaining and it is well worth an read. The Beach Boys with original member Mike Love and long time member since 1965 are still touring which they'll be doing shows in the USA and let's hope they do come to Australia again and Al Jardine has an show coming up in Florida on Saturday with His Endless Summer Band. Brian Wilson as everyone knows has dementia and both Carl and Dennis Wilson passed away but the great music of the Beach Boys lives on and still sounding great to this day. This is an must for Beach Boys fans and I am giving this 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.
