4IP February 1975

This is from the Telegraph February 12th 1975 and until 1992 when it becmae 4TAB which it is now radio TAB 4IP was one of Brisbane's top music radio stations at the time in the 70's which besides from being the music station it was also promoting rock concerts which on Saturday February 15th 1975 4IP did a free rock concert at the Botanical Gardens in the city which it was compered by Keith Williams who was one of the 4IP Good Guys and had iconic Brisbane rock band Railroad Gin with a 12 piece string band and Brisbane bands Valhalla and Borgus.

Hamnet

This afternoon I went to the Angelika Cinemas Woolloongabba to see the movie Hamnet. Agnes Hathaway(Jessie Buckley) summons a hawk when she first meets William Shakespeare( Paul Mescal) who is a tutor and fall in love with her which she is pregnant with his child that leads to her family disowning her and lives with William which they get married and they would have 3 children Susanna and the twins Hamnet and Judith while all that happend William goes to London for a career in the theatre which he would become successful and then tragedy struck with the passing of Hamnet and that leads to William to write a play Hamlet inspired by Hamnet's passing while they marriage is getting strained which gets interesting. It is AMAZING, BRILLIANT and SUPERB as well as sad with top, Amazing and Briiliant acting by Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, Emily Watson,Joe Alwyn, Jacobi Jupe and Olivia Lynes. It's New York 1952 and Marty Mauser (Timothee Chalamet) is an shoe salesman at his uncle Murray's(Larry Sloman) while he is also doing Table Tennis professionally and goes to the British Open which he loses to Japanese champion Koto Endo(Koto Kawaguchi) and also encounters actress Kay Stone (Gwyneth Paltrow) at the Ritz in London which he has a affair with her which he also had a affair with his childhood friend Rachel (Odessa A'Zion) who is married and is pregnant. First Fifty Years Songs Of Boomtown Glory The Boomtown Rats

This is the new compilation double CD by legendary Irish rock band The Boomtown Rats which I am reviewing the double CD as there is also an vinyl one as well and on the double CD it has the recordings of the classic hits the band made in the 70's and 80's including I Don't Like Mondays, Banana Republic, Rat Trap and She's So Modern as well as songs from the 2020 album Citizens of Boomtown and many others. It is FANTASTIC with FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT songs which has stood the test of time and still sounding great today as it did back then as great music endures after all these years and Bob Gedolf and Pete Briquette were the compilation producers. This is dedicated to the memory of member Garry Roberts who passed away in 2022 and they did an UK tour last year celebrating 50 years. This is a must for fans of the Boomtown Rats and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves a favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

Wish You Were Here Pink Floyd

On September 12th 1975 British rock band Pink Floyd released the album Wish You Were Here which it went to number 1 in the USA, UK and Australia and it was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London from January 13th to July 28th 1975. The songs on the album were written by Roger Waters including 2 he wrote with David Gilmour and Rick Wright as well as Wish You Were Here he wrote with David Gilmour and beside from Pink Floyd the other musicians and singer playing on it including Venetta Fields, Roy Harper who sang lead on the track Have A Cigar and Dick Parry and also during the recording former bandmate Syd Barrett visited the studio. Last year (2025) it was 50 years when the album came out and it is now out on CD which I am reviewing the double CD edition. This afternoon I went to the Events Cinema Carindale to the advance screening of Is This Thing On. Alex(Will Arnett) and his wife Tess (Laura Dern) who have 2 sons are reaching the end of the marriage which he lives on his own in his apartment while Tess goes back to her passion which it's volleyball with a possiblity to coach for the Olympic Games. Alex signs at the Comedy Cellar for the open mic nights which he starts to do stand up comedy which he is very successful and has a fling with Jill (jordan Jensen) while Tess goes with Laird (Peyton Manning) and Alex and Tess reconcile which they caught up with their friends Balls(Bradley Cooper) and his wife Christine (Andra Day) and it gets interesting. Yesterday morning on my way to work I recieved an message on Facebook by Mike Steiner who was from the Brisbane rock group The Dominoes (with Darryl Wright,George Savva and Lew Noyes) to tell me that Bobby Wilde the lead singer passed away the night before which I was shocked to hear it and I posted it on the Brisbane rock n roll scene of the 50's and 60's. He was born Bobby Halliwell November 3rd 1941 and was singing around for a while when in the early 60's formed the band Bobby Wilde and the Raiders with Darryl Wright(the Tornadoes), Lew Noyes, Tommy Flanagan and Tony Heathcote which their first gig was at the Enoggera RSL/Church Hall as well as the suburban Dance Halls including Keperra Theatre and Pub gigs as well as an country tour of Queensland with Tommy Dee and the Nundah Memorial Hall Friday Night Teen dance that they shared with another Brisbane group the Saxons that had Lester Vickary on guitar and George Saava on tenor saxophone and Tommy Flanagan left which L...

New Years Eve @ Carina Leagues club

Last Night I went to Carina Leagues Club where I saw the Glitterati Band which it was my first time seeing them live. Dad took me to Carina Leagues Club, went to the Dine, ordered meal, Had Rib and Wings with Slaw and Wedges for dinner, drank Coke with No Sugar,ate Ice Cream, did writing and read book. The show started after 8pm with the Glitterati Band did 3 sets doing songs by Abba, Elvis Presley, The Drifters, Shania Twain, The Jacksons, Backstreet Boys, Blondie, Neil Diamond, Bon Jovi and many others and the band members wore different clothes in the sets and also even the staff members some of them dressed up as well as the fireworks went off after 9.30pm despite the rain. This afternoon I went to the Events Cinema Carindale to see the movie Song Sung Blue and Mike (Hugh Jackman) who was in Vietnam and ex alcoholic who is a musician having played in the Esquries is an Don Ho impersonator supposed to perform at the Wisconsin State Fair who wants to be himself on stage quits meets Claire (Kate Hudson) who is doing an Patsy Cline tribute and wants to do an Neil Diamond tribute tribute act with Claire's help which they call themselves Thunder and Lightning which they put an band together and starts doing gigs including supporting Pearl Jam as well as Mike and Claire get married too. Claire then gets hit by a car which she loses her leg and she struggles as well as arguing with Mike thinking he is seeing other people which they both get help and try to get the act back together which gets interesting. This is from the Sunday Truth January 1st 1967 and long before known as the Good Times and Great Classic Hits station as well as the Country Music station in the 80's 4KQ was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 60's which it was known as the Better Music station as it was playing easy listening music at that time which among their disc jockeys was Bill Riner who was on daily from 2pm until 7pm and also he was mentioned in the special 4KQ 75 Years A Brisbane Icon by BBQ Bob Gallagher when the station was finishing on Sunday June 26th and Thursday June 30th 2022 as well as Pete Rudder mentioned him in the interview with Murray Shoring on the final broadcast before it ended Thursday June 30th 2022.
