This afternoon I went to the Events Cinema Garden City where I saw the documentary about the legendary Australia band Mental As Anything and in it has interviews with members Martin Plaza, David Twohill, Reg Mombassa and Pete O'Doherty, archival interviews with Greedy Smith, Neil Finn, Greedy's brother Stewart Smith, Colin Hay(Men At Work), Jane Gazzo (Australian music writer), Dave Graney and others as well as talking about their formation in the 70's, playing around the Sydney music scene, began recording for Regular which achieve great success with hit singles including The Nips Are Getting Bigger, Come Around, If You Leave Me Can I Come Too, Bersek Warriors, Live It Up and many others as well as albums including Get Wet, Expresso Bongo, Cats and Dogs and Fundamental As Amnything, going to America as well as Europe, outside projects and many others. It is AWESOME, AMAZING, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with amazing stories and it is well worth seeing. It's been 6 and an bit years (7 in December) since the passing of Greedy Smith and the band are getting back together with Reg Mombassa and Pete O'Doherty doing shows celebrating 50 years since they were formed which includes Brisbane at the Princess Theatre on June 27th. It is directed by Matthew Walker and this is a must for Mental As Anything fans as well as Australian music fans which I give it 5 stars as it's in the cinemas now so do yourselves an favour and SEE IT which you will be impressed.
