Song Sung Blue

This afternoon I went to the Events Cinema Carindale to see the movie Song Sung Blue and Mike (Hugh Jackman) who was in Vietnam and ex alcoholic who is a musician having played in the Esquries is an Don Ho impersonator supposed to perform at the Wisconsin State Fair who wants to be himself on stage quits meets Claire (Kate Hudson) who is doing an Patsy Cline tribute and wants to do an Neil Diamond tribute tribute act with Claire's help which they call themselves Thunder and Lightning which they put an band together and starts doing gigs including supporting Pearl Jam as well as Mike and Claire get married too. Claire then gets hit by a car which she loses her leg and she struggles as well as arguing with Mike thinking he is seeing other people which they both get help and try to get the act back together which gets interesting. It is FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with FANTASTIC acting by Hugh Jackman, Kate Hudson, Jim Belushi, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Erika Slezak(known as Vicki Lord on the American daytime soap One Life To Live) and Fisher Stevens. It is directed by Craig Brewer who also wrote it and produced it with John Fox and John Davis and this is one of the finest performances that Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson have given and they work very well together in the movie which they really clicked and do the scenes so very well and also the music is FANTASTIC too which they do the Neil Diamond stuff so very well as they sounded so great too. I am giving this 4 stars and it's in the cinemas as it is out today so do yourselves an favour and SEE IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song...

 This is the autobiography of Australian Pianist and musician John Charter and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Kingsford (Sydney), started learning piano at age 8, playing in Australia's first rock and roll band Alan Dale and the Houserockers, playing in his own trio, forming Johnny Rebb and The Rebels with Johnny Rebb who would achieve 6 top 40 hits from 1959-60 including Hey Sheriff and Pathway To Paradise, doing the Lee Gordon tours with the Everly brothers, Fabian , The Platters and Johnny Ray, doing Bandstand and Six O'Clock Rock, working with Slim Dusty, playing in the Sydney Club  and hotel Scene , forming his own group The John Charter Group, working in Vietnam and America with Digger Revell and many others.
