The Universal Tone is the autobiography of legendary guitarist Carlos Santana. In this book he talks about his upbringing in Mexico, began playing the violin during childhood, being sexually abused, his youth in Autlan, playing the strip clubs in Tijuana ,started playing guitar at about 13, moving to San Francisco in the early 60's, played in early bands, forming the group Santana in 1967, working with people like Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield,Miles Davis, Stevie Ray Vaughan etc, performing @ Woodstock in 1969, his 2 marriages, the amazing comeback in 1999 with Supernatural and many others. It is an AWESOME,BRILLIANT and an FANTASTIC book with FANTASTIC stories and an BRILLIANT and an enjoyable read. This book was co written with Ashley Kahn an author, journalist, educator and production manager who has been in the music business since the 1980's and Hal Miller an jazz drummer who is also an a writer, an lecturer at music institutions and an collector of jazz videos. Carlos Santana is still recording and touring after nearly 50 years and still going strong which it is great to see. This book is an must for any Santana fan as well as guitar music fans and I am giving this 5 stars which it's in the shops now so do yourself an favour and BUY IT.
