Jim Reeves in the Brisbane charts
As yesterday (August 20th) would have been the 99th birthday of American country singer Jim Reeves who was tragically killed in an plane crash on July 31st 1964 in Davidson County Tennessee and has left an great legacy of music that has stood the test of time which holds up very well today. He had hits on the American country charts from 1953 until 1984 which after his passing posthmously ones including Distant Drums, This is It, Is It Really over, Snowflake and others as well as been on the pop charts from 1953-67 and in Australia he had a few hits from 1957 until 1972 but only here in Brisbane he had the one hit with the classic hit He'll Have To Go written by Joe Allison and Audrey Allison which number 1 in Brisbane for 7 weeks in 1960 which was number 1 in Australia, number 1 in the USA Country charts, number 2 in the USA pop charts, number 13 in the USA R&B charts and number 12 int he UK. A country classic with great lyrics and it holds up very well today which still sounds so good.

He'll Have To Go number 1 Brisbane April 3rd 1960 knocking off Running Bear by Johnny Preston and stayed at number 1 for 7 weeks.
