Olivia Newton John
Last Tuesday morning before leaving for work I saw on the computer that Australian singer Olivia Newton John passed away from her battle with breast cancer which she first had it 30 years ago and then it came back in 2013 and 2017. I only got to see Olivia Newton John live only once at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Saturday February 21st 1998 as she was an guest on the Cliff Richard tour as he was celebrating 40 years in the music business with my friend Steven Peters, his mum Glenda, his uncle Colin and his Aunty Nada which we only got there as the show just started as we were caught in traffic for about 45 miniutes and Olivia performed a few of her songs which were- Physical, Hopelessly Devoted To You, Suddenly with Cliff, The Twelfth of Never with Cliff, All I Ask Of You with Cliff, Magic with Cliff and Peace In Our Time with Cliff which they sounded great together and she was great too which even though it was that one time I am glad to have seen Olivia live that ine. It is an long way from Melbourne doing local shows including the Happy Show, Time For Terry, The Go Show, Boomeride, Sing Sing Sing which she won an talent quest to great success in the UK and the USA with the hits including If Not For You, Banks Of the Ohio, Let Me Be There, If You Love Me Let Me Know, Have You Never Been Mellow, I Love You I Honestly Love You, Sam, Hopelessly Devoted To you, Physical, Xanadu, Twist of Fate and many others as well as the movies Grease, Xanadu and Two of A Kind as well as the Tv movies including A Mom For Christmas and Christmas Romance. A lot of her hits wtitten by Australians John Farrar, Peter Allen and Steve Kipner as well as produced by John Farrar as well as Bruce Welch of the Shadows as well as John Rostill of the Shadows. She worked with Pat Carroll in the 60's as an duo which they did back up vocals on the Easybeats single Come In You'll Get Pneumonia and also did backing vocals on other people's records including James Reyne, John Denver, Cliff Richard and many others. She was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2002 by Billy Thorpe and was an advocate for Breast Cancer Research as well as an activist for enviromental and animal rights causes. She was married twice first to Matt Lattanzi which there was an daughter Chloe and second that lasted 14 years John Easterling and also Ian Turpie was her boyfriend in the 60's when he was the host of the Australian music show The Go Show. An great loss for Australian music and her family but the she has an great legacy in the music as well as the movies including Grease and her charities including Breast Cancer. Thank You for the legacy and you will never be forgotten.
