This is the book about the American Music Promoter Lee Gordon written by Australian music writer Jeff Apter and in the book he talks about Gordon's upbringing in Michigan, losing his father, Studied in Miami at the University of Miami, promoted shows, working in Cuba, coming to Australia in 1953, worked for Royal art Furnishing in Sydney, promoted the Big Show concert tours in 1954 which would last for 9 years bringing people like Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Ray, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Bill Haley and His Comets, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Fabian, Crash Craddock, Ricky Nelson and many others, introducing Australians to things including the Roller Derby and the Drive In Restaurant and many others. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC and AMAZING stories as well as very impressive and very entertaining which it is well worth an read and Jeff has an FANTASTIC job doing this book with research and an great effort putting it together which he always does an great job on the music biographies. It will be 62 years in November since the passing of Lee Gordon but his legacy is still remembered and it is important to acknowledge the impact Lee Gordon made on the Australian entertainment scene which he paved the way for people like Kevin Jacobsen, Harry M Miller, Michael Chugg, Michael Gudinski and many others which would not be what it is had it not been for someone like Lee Gordon. This is an must for Australian music fans and I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.
