Mars Needs Guitars Hoodoo Gurus

On march 8th 1985 the Australian rock band Hoodoo Gurus released their second album Mars Needs Guitars which went to number 5 in Australia, number 18 in New Zealand, number 47 in Sweden and number 140 in the USA which was produced by the band and Charles Fisher who had produced Ol'55's first album Take It Greasy and from the album it had 4 singles Bittersweet, Like Wow-Wipeout, Death Defying and Poison Pen and also it now out on CD to celebrate 40 years of it's released. On the first of the double CD it has the original tracks that was on the album at the time and on the second CD it has demo versions of most of the tracks as well as an album outtake Johnny. It is FANTASTIC, AWESOME and BRILLIANT as well as ROCKIN with FANTASTIC songs and it holds up very well to this day which still sounds great now as it did back then as great music endures. The Hoodoo Gurus has shows coming up in New Zealand in January 2026 as well as an show in Melbourne also in January and the Big Red Bash in Queensland in July and this is an must for Hoodoo Gurus fans which I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song...

Memoirs of A Piano Man by John Charter

 This is the autobiography of Australian Pianist and musician John Charter and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Kingsford (Sydney), started learning piano at age 8, playing in Australia's first rock and roll band Alan Dale and the Houserockers, playing in his own trio, forming Johnny Rebb and The Rebels with Johnny Rebb who would achieve 6 top 40 hits from 1959-60 including Hey Sheriff and Pathway To Paradise, doing the Lee Gordon tours with the Everly brothers, Fabian , The Platters and Johnny Ray, doing Bandstand and Six O'Clock Rock, working with Slim Dusty, playing in the Sydney Club  and hotel Scene , forming his own group The John Charter Group, working in Vietnam and America with Digger Revell and many others.
