Classic Albums- Straight up badfinger

This week's classic album segment I am looking at the 1971 album Straight Up by British group Badfinger which it was their 3rd album. By this time in 1971 Badfinger were already having successful hits with Come and Get It and No Matter What have came on the scene since 1969 having started as the Iveys and had been touring the USA and Britian honing their craft. The recordings of the album that was to become Straight Up began @ Abbey Road studios and also AIR Studios in London on May 30th 1971 which would last until October 6th and the album was released on the Apple label in the USA December 13th 1971 and in the UK February 11th 1972 which it went to number 31 in the USA. This album was produced by ex Beatle George Harrison and Todd Rundgren and from this album had 2 hit singles baby Blue and Day After Day which George Harrison plays slide guitar on it. It's an excellent album with great songs and it's sounds an great today as it was 41 years ago which the songs were written by the members as pete Ham wrote including Day After Day and Baby Blue, Tom Evans wrote 3 including one with Joey Molland and Joey Molland wrote besides from writing with tom evans on 1 song wrote 4 songs. Their music still endures after all these years despite the passing of Pete Ham, Tom Evans and Mike Gibbins and despite the problems that they would have after this time Badfinger were just an great band with an great sound and writing great quality songs which this album is one of the best albums they ever made.
