Amazing Grace
This afternoon I went to the Dendy Cinema Coorparoo to see the music documentary Amazing Grace. It's 1972 and legendary American soul singer Aretha Franklin is in Los Angeles to record an live album with her band and Rev James Cleveland and the Southern California Community Choir which they did it at the New Bethel Baptist church in Watts Los Angeles California. Sydney Pollack the director was hired to film the recordings but due to technical problems it was never released until now and the live album was an huge success. This documentary shows Aretha in her peak doing the gospel songs that would be on the album and among the audience were Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts as well as gospel singer Clara Ward and Aretha's Father Rev CL Franklin and also the audience were enjoying it too. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC music and entertainment with great vocals by Aretha in her prime and the camera angles were great too as the audience joining in too. It's taken a long time as it was going to be released in 2011 and 2015 but never happened due to Aretha Franklin sued Alan Elliot the producer twice but after her passing last year her family made an arrangement to release the movie so here it. Alan Elliot did the producing with Joe Boyd, Spike Lee, Rob Johnson, Sabrina V Owens, Angie Seegers, Tirrell D Whitely and Joseph Woolf. It's an year since Aretha Franklin passed away but the great music she made still lives on and it will forever and this documentary reminds us of this great legacy that she made. If you are an Aretha Franklin fan as well as an fan of soul music you will love it as well as entertained and impressed and I am giving this 5 stars as it's in the cinemas now so do yourselves an favour and SEE IT.
