Wynnum Manly Jazz Festival

On Sunday September 1st the Wynnum Manly Jazz Festival will be held at the Bandstand Park on the Foreshore below on Gordon Pde in Wynnum and you will be entertained by the bands who are on the bill playing jazz and Rhythm and Blues which will start at 10.45pm until 4.45pm as it is free so please bring the family and you will have a great time so if you would like to go please do yourselves an favour and SEE IT which the kids will have Laughing Clowns and Sideshow Games as well as Food and Drink Stalls and Jazz Raffle. The Bands that will be playing on the day are The Moreton Bay Colleges, Royal Australian Navy Band, The Well Swung Daddies, The Session Band and Dezzie D and the Stingrayz.

Last night I went to the Koala Tavern in Capalaba to the tribute show Creedence The John Fogerty Story as it was my second time seeing it as I first saw it at Wynnum RSL nearly 7 yars ago. Dad took me to the bus stop, caught bus to Capalaba, walk to the Koala Tavern, went to the Bistro, rang Dad, ordered my meal and use my Mbile. had Nachos for dinner, drank Coke with No Sugar, ate Chocolate Brownie for desert and went inside the room where the show was happening. Bought CD and hat from the merchandise table where they were selling things including magnet, stickers and shirts. bought Coke with No Sugar, drank it and did some writing. The support act The Tom Petty Songbook which it's an tribute to American singer-songwriter Tom Petty done by John Hayhoe which he did an great set doing the classics including Don't Back Down and Learning To Fly and there was an interval which I bought an Coke With No Sugar, drank it and use my mobile. Frank Zappa and the Mothers Of Invention Whiskey Au Go Go 1968

On July 23rd 1968 Frank Zappa and the Mothers performed at the Whiskey Au Go Go for an all night show which was intended to be for an album project but even though bits were released over the years by Frank Zappa himself the live album didn't come which the tapes were in the Vault for 55 years and it is now finally out on CD as an 3 CD edition which has liner notes were done by Joe Travers and Pamela Des Barres as well as an interview with Frank Zappa's son Ahmet and Alice Cooper. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with AWESOME and FANTASTIC songs and the sound quality is FANTASTIC which holds up very well. it is 31 years this December since the passing of Frank Zappa but the great music he made lives on forever and it is great stuff coming out of the vault of stuff that has never been released which it's great to see. This is an must for Frank Zappa fans and I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed...

This afternoon I went to the Dendy Cinema Coorparoo to see the movie Fly Me To The Moon. It's the late 60's which Kelly Jones(Scarlett Johannson) who is an marketing specialist is asked to go to NASA by Moe(Woody Harrelson) to help them with fixing up NASA's image where she meets Cole Davis (Channing Tatum) who is the launch director for NASA and she starts doing adverts for NASA as the man going to the moon was coming up which they plan to stage an back up fake Moon landing which gets interesting. It is excellent, very funny and very entertaining with great acting by Scarlett Johansson who was also one of the producers in the movie, Channing Tatum, Woody Harrelson, Ray Romano and Jim Rash and besides from Scarlett Johannson the other producers in the movie are Keenan Flynn who also did the story, Sarah Schechter and Jonathan Lia and the director is Greg Berlanti. This is the new album by legendary British rock band Deep Purple and this was recorded at Noble Street Studios in Toronto Canada. The songs on the album are written by the band as well as Bob Ezrin who also produced the album and it's the first album with current guitarist Simon McBride who replaced long time member Steve Morse in 2022 as well as their 5th collaboration with Bob Erzin who has been producing Deep Purple since 2013. This is the memoir of legendary American musician and founding member of the icon American rock band Sonic Youth Thurston Moore and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Florida, getting his first guitar, moving to Connecticut, losing his father in 1976, going to New York in 1978 where he would see bands like the Ramones, Twisted Sister and DNA, the music scene in New York in the late 70's, playing in the Coachmen, forming the band Sonic Youth in 1981 which would achieve great success with albums like Washing Machine, Dirty, Goo and A Thousand Leaves, encounters with Neil Young, Nirvana, The Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam and REM, his marriage to member Kim Gordon which they have a daughter Coco and many others. The Bikeriders

Tonight I went to the Events Cinema at Carindale to see the movie the Bikeriders. It's 1965 and Kathy Bauer (Jodie Corner) meets Benny Cross(Austin Butler) who is one of the bikers in the Chicago based motorcycle club the Vandals at an bar as well as meeting the leader Johnny (Tom Hardy) and weeks later Kathy marries Benny. Benny gets into scrapes like being followed by the police as well as getting beaten up which he nearly loses his foot as well as Johnny's leadership is challenged when one of the members suggests that new chapters should be added which he didn't want to but eventually does as he expands the club with the new chapters being added and would begin to form in the midwest which will get interesting.
