This is from the Telegraph July 29th 1974(50 Years ago today) and this was the 4BH Top 40 charts with Cash Backman at number 1 with his version of the Jim Stafford song My Girl Bill, Elton John at number 2 with the song about Marilyn Monroe Candle In The Wind, Gordon Lightfoot at number 3 with Sundown and Marvin Hamlisch at number 4 with the song that was from the movie the Sting that starred Paul Newman, Robert Redford and Robert Shaw The Entertainer. The new entries in the chart that week were Maria Muldar at number 37 with Midnight At The Oasis, Helen Reddy at number 38 with You and Me Against The World, Mac Davis at number 39 with One Hell Of A Woman and William Shakespeare at number 40 with the song written by Harry Vanda and George Young Can't Stop Myself From Loving You and besides from Cash backman, Helen Reddy and William Shakespeare the other Australian acts in the charts that week were Digby Richards at number 7 with Do The Spunky Monkey, Judy Stone at number 8 with Would You Lay With Me In A Field of Stone, The Bee Gees at number 9 with Mr Natural, Sherbet at number 11 with Slipstream, Johnny Chester at number 18 with She's My Kind Of Woman, The Bootleg Family at number 27 with their version of the Betty Everett song the Shoop Shoop Song and Reg Lindsay at number 30 with You've Got Everything You Want.
