Hamnet

This afternoon I went to the Angelika Cinemas Woolloongabba to see the movie Hamnet. Agnes Hathaway(Jessie Buckley) summons a hawk when she first meets William Shakespeare( Paul Mescal) who is a tutor and fall in love with her which she is pregnant with his child that leads to her family disowning her and lives with William which they get married and they would have 3 children Susanna and the twins Hamnet and Judith while all that happend William goes to London for a career in the theatre which he would become successful and then tragedy struck with the passing of Hamnet and that leads to William to write a play Hamlet inspired by Hamnet's passing while they marriage is getting strained which gets interesting. It is AMAZING, BRILLIANT and SUPERB as well as sad with top, Amazing and Briiliant acting by Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, Emily Watson,Joe Alwyn, Jacobi Jupe and Olivia Lynes. It was directed by Chleo Zhao who also did the screenplay with Maggie O'Farrell and produced by Liza Marshall, Pippa Harris, Nicolas Sonda, Steven Spielberg and Sam Mendes. The movie is nominated fo 8 Oscars which includes Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress for Jessie Buckley who does the role of Agnes just brilliantly and really nails it. I am giving this 5 stars as it's still in the cinemas now so do yourselves a favour and SEE IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song...

this is another new segment on Rockin Luke as we look at the rock'n'roll tours of Australia from the 50's,60's and 70's from the well known tours and to some that don't get a lot of mention so let's start off with the Buddy Holly tour of Australia in 1958.
