Turning The Tide by Michelle Ford

This is the memoir of former Australian swimmer Michelle Ford and in this book she talks about coming to Australia as an baby, her upbringing in Sydney, started swimming at an young age, meeting Dick Caine who became her coach, starting breaking records, went to the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976 which she did not win an medal, Swimming at the Edmonton Commonwealth Games in 1978 which she won gold in the 200 meters freestyle, moved to the USA where she trained with Don Talbot, going to Moscow for the Olympics in 1980 which she won gold in the 800 meters freestyle and bronze in the 200 meters butterfly, the happenings behind the scenes with the doping situation and the boycott situation in 1980 and many others. it is an FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT book with FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT stories as well as very impressive and very entertaining which it is well worth an read and to understand how times were different at the time. It's been nearly 40 years since Michelle Ford retired from swimming but is still remembered to this day and this book is an must for Australian swimming fans which I give it 4 and an half stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.
