4BH Top 40 November 1963
This is from the Telegraph November 15th 1963 and this was the 4BH Top 40 charts with the Delltones at number 1 with the song written by Sydney detective Ben Acton Hangin Five, Kathy Kirby at number 2 with the vocal version of the song Dance On which the Shadows did the instrumental version that year, Heinz Burt who was from the British group the Tornados at number 3 with the song written by Geoff Goddard and future Deep Purple member Ritchie Blackmore playing guitar on Just Like Eddie and Jimmy Gilmer and the Fireballs at number 4 with Sugar Shack. The New entries in the chart that week were Elvis Presley at number 35 with Bossa Nova Baby which was from the movie Fun in Acapulco which he starred with Paul Lukas and Urusula Andress, The Dixiebells at number 37 with Down at Papa Joe's and Jimmy Little at number 40 with the song Royal Telephone and besides from Jimmy Little and The Delltones the other Australian acts in the charts that week were The Joy Boys featuring Col Joye's brothers Kevin and Keith Jacobsen at number 17 with Murphy the Surfie, Johnny Devlin(New Zealander) at number 21 with Stomp The Tumbarumba which the Bee Gees are on the backing vocals, The DeKroo Brothers at number 22 with (And Her Name is) Scarlet, Johnny O'Keefe at number 31 with Shake Baby Shake and the Atlantics at number 34 with Bombora. Among the gigs in Brisbane on this day in 1963 were Birdland with Johnny Byrell, Billy Thorpe, Allen Griggs, Johnny Pal, The Planets, the stilletos which Lobby Loyde was in the group and 4BC disc jockey Geoff Atkinson and The Alley Cat Sound Lounge which was in the city with The Pacifics and Ray Verrell and it had the heats for the Australian Stomp Titles.
