Al Jardine and the Pet Sounds Band at QPAC
Last night I went to QPAC Concert Hall to see Al Jardine who is one of the founding members of the iconic American band the Beach Boys with his own band The Pet Sounds Band which includes his son Matt who sang with the Beach Boys in the 90's and the others musicians in the band played with Brian Wilson for many years and it was my first time to see Al live as I did not see him perform with the Beach Boys in the 90's as well as in 2012 when the surviving members got back together for the album That's Why God Made The Radio and tour including Brisbane but at least I got the opportunity to QPAC which was originally intended for October last year but was rescheduled. I caught the bus to South Bank, went to the Plough Inn where I had Sirloin Pork Chops, chips and Salad for dinner, drank Pepsi Max, went to NZ Natural Ice Cream, ate movie bowl Sundae and walk to QPAC. Put bag in cloak room, bought bag and CD, drank Coke with No Sugar, bought photo, went inside and waited. The show started at 8pm with Al and the band coming on stage which started off with California Girls as well as going the classic songs including Do It Again, Hawaii which was an Brisbane number 1 hit in 1964, Surfer Girl, Little Duece Coupe, I get Around, In My Room, Heroes and Villians which Al did some of the leads as well as Matt as well as doing tracks from the 70's album Beach Boys Love You which Al would some stories about the songs as well as mentioning Roger McGuinn from the Byrds and then doing songs from the iconic album Pet Sounds including God Only Knows, Sloop John B and Wouldn't It be Nice as well as doing Good Vibrations which will be 60 years this year when it came out and then came back on stage doing Help Me Rhonda, Surfin USA and finishing it off with Fun Fun Fun. The show finished around 10.06pm, pick up bag at Cloak Room, caught bus to Carindale, Dad picked me up and came home. It was FANTASTIC and AWESOME which everyone had a great time singing along to the songs and Al played and sounded great which he is singing better than at age 83 84 on September 3rd and also still has the stamina as there was no interval going through 2 hours of entertainment. The band were AWESOME too with great playing and singing by them and towards the end the sax player introduced Al and the rest of the band. I am so glad that I got to see Al Jardine live as I had seen the Beach Boys twice with Mike Love and Bruce Johnston and Brian Wilson the one time Tuesday December 10th 2002 and when I saw that Al was coming to brisbane I knew i did not want to miss it which thankfully I got the opportunity and it was a night of memories and nostalgia of an golden era that the music was great and still great today which it will be around as great music lives on which I hope Al comes back to Australia again.
