John Williamson @ Redland Performing Arts Centre
On Sunday September 22nd I went to the Redland Performing Arts Centre to see legendary Australian singer John Williamson which it was my first time seeing him live as I was going to see him in November 2022 but was postponed which they changed it to march 2023 but I couldn't go and then during last year I booked for this show which he was supposed to do play on February 1st this year but he had hurt himself so they changed it to September 22nd which I am glad to go this one. I caught bus to Cleveland, walk to the Redland Performing Arts Centre, went inside and waited. The show started at 3pm with John Williamson coming on stage with his back up band as he did 2 sets started off with an new song called Beautiful Words which he is planning to record an new album that will be out next year as well as performing 2 new songs for the new album I'm Not Marlin Brando as well as performing the classics songs he recorded over the years including Mallee Boy, Sail The Nullabour, Salisbury Street Buddy and Slim and True Blue as well as telling stories about the inspirations behind the songs as well as on some songs his wife Meg came on stage to the vocals which sounded great and the band which including an female violinst played great as well as the outback picture on the stage looked great. After getting off the stage towards the end of the show he and the band came back on the stage which he performed Rip Rip Woodchip, the song that launched him on the music scene 54 years with Old Man Emu and Please Don't Forget Me which the rest of band got off the stage it was just John and the guitar as the light was just on him which was great. The show finished at 5.30pm and he didn't come out for autographs but during the interval I bought an flaf and sticker both True Blue and I went to Cleveland Sands Hotel where I had Steak, Chips and Salad for dinner, went to the bus stop, caught bus to Carindale, Dad picked me up and came home. It was an FANTASTIC show which everyone enjoyed themselves including myself and John Williamson is still sounding great as ever as well as still singing great at age 78 79 on November 1st as well as very entertaining giving the crowd an show that everyone be entertained which we were all entertained.
