4BH Top 40 charts January 1964

This is from the Sunday Truth January 5th 1964 and this was the 4BH top 40 charts with Kathy Kirby at number 1 with her version of the Doris Day song Secret Love, The Singing Nun at number 2 with Dominique, The Beatles at number 3 with I Saw Her Standing There which was from the Please Please Me album and Gerry and the Pacemakers at number 4 with their version of the song that was from the musical Carousel You'll Never Walk Alone. The Australian and New Zealand acts who were in the charts that week were The Atlantics at number 7 with the Crusher, Peter Posa at number 14 with the White Rabbit, Dig Richards at number 16 with Comin Down, Johnny Devlin at number 22 with Stomp the Tumbarumba with the Bee Gees on backing vocals, Little Pattie at number 24 with the song that launched her career as being written by Jay Justin and Joe Halford He's My Blonde Headed Stompie Real Gone Surfer Boy, Brisbane group The Pacifics at number 28 with Barracuda, The Delltones at number 36 with the song written by Sydney detective Ben Acton Hangin Five and Jimmy Little at number 38 with Royal Telephone and among the other acts that were in the charts that week were The Beatles at number 6 with I Want To Hold Your Hand, Elvis Presley at number 9 with Bossa Nova Baby which was from the movie he did Fun In Acapulco, Helen Shapiro at number 10 with Look Who it Is, Heinz Burt at number 13 with Country Boy, Gene Pitney at number 17 with 24 Hours From Tulsa, Dion at number 20 with Drip Drop, Brian Poole and the Tremeloes at number 25 with their version of the Contours song Do You Love Me, Jimmy Gilmer and the Fireballs in the charts twice with Daisy Petal Pickin at number 27 and Sugar Shack at number 34, Jan and Dean at number 32 with the song written by Jan Berry of Jan and Dean, disc jockey Roger Christian and Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys Drag City and New Christy Minstrels at number 39 with Saturday Night. It was that weekend 61 years ago when the Brisbane music venue Teen City which was in Red Hill opened with Johnny Chester performing there with the Planets the top Brisbane rock group at the time, Johnny Pal, The Pacifics, Australian singer Paul Wayne and Tony Worsley along with 4BC disc jockey Geoff Atkinson who was also the host of the QTQ 9 music Teen Beat and at TC's Brisbane groups The Embers and the Stilletos and Tony Worsley performed on January 3rd and on January 4th The Stilletos, Tony Worsley and Norm Miller performed there.
