The Room Next Door

This afternoon I went to the Dendy Cinema Coorparoo to see the movie The Room Next Door. Ingrid (Julianne Moore) who is an Novelist is informed by her friend Stella(Sarah Demeestere) that Martha (Tilda Swinton) has cancer during an book signing and Ingrid meets up with Martha in Hospital as they have not seen each other for years which they talk about their lives as Martha was an journalist as well as being estranged from her daughter Michelle and Martha's cancer is terminal which she wants to end her life as Ingrid supports her and they go to an country house which gets interesting. It is excellent and amazong with Fantatsic acting by Julianne Moore, Tilda Swinton, John Turturro and Sarah Demeestere. It is directed by Pedro Almodovar who also wrote it and it was produced by Esther Garcia and Agustin Almodovar. This is one of Julianne Moore's finest perforamnces she has given and does it so very well as Tilda Swinton who does the role so well. I am giving this 4 stars and it's in the cinemas now so do yourselves an favour and SEE IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song...

This is the book about 2 iconic Australian music shows that were on Channel 0 (now Channel 10)back in the 60's The Go Show on August 4th 1964 which lasted for 3 years and 222 episodes until September 17th 1967 and Kommotion hosted by Ken Sparkes was on from December 13th 1965 until September 28th 1967 after 356 episodes and in the book it has the info about both shows as well as episode guides as well the discography of both the Go label and the Kommotion label and the people who worked on Kommotion including Denise Drysdale and Molly Meldrum and many others including some memorabilla and photos of the artists. It is AWESOME, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC and AWESOME stuff and amazing information about the Go Show which just celebrated 60 years an month ago and Kommotion as well as very impressive and very entertaining which it is well worth an read.
