This is the biography of legendary American rockabilly and rock and roll icon Carl Perkins written by Jeff Apter and in the book talks about his upbringing in Tiptonville Tennessee, got his first guitar as a kid, playing in the marching band, moved to Jackson, performed with his brother Jay as the Perkins Brothers, performed on radio including WTJS, began recording for Sun Records which he would achieve success with classics including Blue Suede Shoes, Boppin the Blues, Your True Love etc, the road crash in 1956, the loss of his brothers, working with Johnny Cash, renewed interest in his career, encounters with the Beatles, The Nashville Teens, Bob Dylan and many others. It is AWESOME, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT stories which it's impressive and very entertaining as it's well worth an read and Jeff Apter who is an Australian music book written having written books about the Bee Gees, Bon Scott and the Young Brothers from AC/DC as well as George Young, Johnny O'Keefe, Jon English amongst others has done an FANTASTIC and an BRILLIANT job with the book talking about the happenings behind the scenes. It's been 27 years this month since Carl Perkins passed away but the great music he made still lives on which will be around forever and influenced acts like the Beatles and Eric Clapton. This is an must for Carl Perkins fans as well as rock and roll fans which I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.
