Last night I went to Coorparoo RSL and Community Centre to see the tribute show Elvis and the Legends Show that has Andy B which it was my second time seeing him as I only saw him back on Friday September 13th 2024 at Mt Gravatt Bowls Club which he did the Elvis tribute and Roy Orbsion tribute with Rick Hudson who also did Elvis and an Ricky Nelson tribute show and it was my second time seeing an show at Coorparoo which the last time was Saturday October 26th 2013 when I saw local rock and roll group On The Move. I caught the bus to Coorparoo from Carindale, walk to the club, went inside, met Judith, Charles, Jackie and Carol, had Lamb Shanks and veges for dinner, saw Graham and Faye(my friend Matthew's Uncle and Aunty) and drank Pepsi Max. This is from the Telegraph June 22nd 1966 and now the talk back station as it's the only commercial one here in Brisbane 4BC was one of Brisbane's top music radio stations at the time in the 60's which they promoted the local Hoadley's Battle of the Sounds which was held at Festival Hall at July 2nd 1966 at 1 pm with 16 groups competing in it and the comperes were Geoff Atkinson, Tony MacArthur and Graeme Smith(Bob) which whoever from Brisbane won it would be in the grand final in Melbourne as the main prize was the trip to London.

Remembering Now Van Morrison

This is the new album by legendary Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison and this is the first album of original songs in 3 years as the last albums were covers which all the songs on the album were written by Van himself which among the musicians playing on the album including Eamon Ferris from the Waterboys, English Violinist Seth Lakeman, Dave Keary on guitar and Colin Griffin on drums. It is an FANTASTIC album with great songs with Van still singing great at age 79 80 on August 31st which he is sounding better than ever on the album and it has gone to number 11 in the UK and number 81 in Ireland. He has 3 shows in Ireland this month, an show in the Netherlands and London with Neil Young in July and 3 more Irish shows in August and September. This is an must for Van Morrison fans and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.

Step By Step by New Kids On the Block

On June 5th 1990 American boyband New Kids On the Block released their 4th album Step By Step which went to number 1 in the USA and the UK and number 4 in Australia and it had 3 hit singles the title track Step By Step, Tonight and Let's Try Again which most the tracks were written by Maurice Starr as well as the ones he co-written. The album is now out on CD which it is celebrating 35 years when it came out and on the CD which besides from the original tracks the bonus tracks includes 2 unreleased songs as well as 2 12' single remixes of the hits. It is FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with FANTASTIC songs which has stood the test of time as it still sounds great today as it did as great music gets appreicated after all these years. New Kids On the Block are doing shows in Las Vegas this month, July and November this year and February 2026 and let's hope they come back to Australia again in the future. This is from the Telegraph June 20th 1960 and now the classic hits station in Brisbane 4BH was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the early 60's which among their disc jockeys was Bill Gates who was the one who gave the Bee Gees their name who was also doing the record hops which was playing records around Brisbane including the City Hall which he did lunchtimes from 12 noon until 2pm during the week as well as through the 60's the O'Connor Boathouse in the city on North Quay.

This is from the Telegraph June 19th 1970 and until 1992 when it became 4TAB which it is now Radio TAB 4IP was one of Brisbane's top radio stations at the time in thw 70's which they used to host which among them was the Queensland Pop Festival which the next night (June 20th) was held at Festival Hall as it was the second semi final and the Brisbane bands that played that night were The Trinity House, The Vision, The Golden Apple, Bentham G, The Light, The Wake, The Apple, Burke & Wills including Jamie Dunn and Movement with special guests Normie Rowe, Robbie Snowden and the Flamingoes (Brisbane group with Johnny Gray and Bob Blight).

Last night I went to Wynnum RSL Club to see the Elvis tribute act Tristan James which it was my first time to see an actual show of his as well as the first in 2 years since I went to a show there where I saw an 80's tribute show.I caught the bus to Wynnum from Cannon Hill despite an issue with the boomgate as the bus was not far so it had to change direction, went to Wynnum RSL, rang Dad, had T-Bone Steak, ships and Salad for dinner, drank Coke with No Sugar, ate bread roll, went upstairs, bought an CD and did writing. Kay Howick

On Easter Monday April 21st I saw on Facebook that BAY FM 100.3 radio personality Kay Howick passed away which was annouced by her daughter Nellie and I was shocked to see that as I wasn't excepting that. I first met Kay Howick on the BAY FM Office in Thornlands on Tuesday March 7th 2006 as I was with the disability group Crossroads which I was in the ICAN Group as we visited the station which she showed us what they do and she was impressed with my knowledge about rock and roll which led to me getting the guest stint on Kay's show on Saturday Good Timez Rock n Roll on Saturday April 8th 2006 and would do 3 more visits to the station on Saturday May 13th, Sunday June 24th and July 15th which I spoke some up of the time about the shows I've seen at the time and towards the end of my time there I even got to read what songs were played which was an great experience. SOS The Australian Abba Tribute show @ The Elvis Marquee

On Saturday night June 7th I went to the Elvis Marquee to see the Abba tribute act SOS The Australian Abba Tribute Show which it was my first time seeing the act. The show started at 7.45pm and for the next 2 hours the performed the Abba classic songs from the 70's and 80's which they did 2 sets including Waterloo, Ring Ring, Fernando, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Dancing Queen and many others as well as the members wore white in the first set and in the second set wore purple and Blue as well as towards the end of the 2nd set the ladies walk through the audience doing Dancing Queen getting the crowd to sing along. the show finished at 9.45pm, went to Woolworths, bought chocolate and Coke with No Sugar and walk back to the Twin Towns Sebel. On Saturday Afternoon June 7th I went to the Elvis Marquee to see the Australian Dusty Springfield Show that has Australian singer and actress Wendy Stapleton and it was my second time seeing Wendy live as the first one was at the Countdown Spectacular Concert at the Brisbane Entertainment Center on Saturday September 16th 2006 as well as watching her on Neighbours as Trixie Tucker (mother of Nina played by Delta Goodrem as well as the ex-wife of Lou Carpenter played by Tom Oliver). On Friday night June 6th I went to the Elvis Marquee to see the tribute band to the Rolling Stones the Australian Rolling Stones Show which it was my first time seeing them. I went to the Aztec Restaurant where I had Nachos for dinner, went to Baskin and Robbins where I had Royale Chocolate Rainbow Sundae for desert, walk to the Elvis Marquee, went inside and use mobile. The show started at 8.30pm and for the next 1 hour and 40 minutes the band performed many of the Stones classics including Jumpin Jack Flash, It's Only Rock 'n'Roll, Get Off My Cloud, It's All Over Now, Satisfaction as well as some album tracks with the male lead vocals doing Mick Jagger doing most of the lead with the backing female singer doing lead on some of the others and the male lead singer walking through the audience as well as the movements. On Friday June 6th in the afternoon I went to the Queen Elizabeth Park Stage to see the Australian Buddy Holly show with Kris Knight and the last time I saw them live was nearly 3 years ago at Wynnum Bowls Club. On Thursday June 5th I went to see Australian singer Issi Dye who I last saw an year at Coolangatta and I walk to the venue from Twin Towns where I had dinner with Mum which I saw Les and Tyler who i had not seen for nearly a year. The show started at 7pm with Issi and Glenn Douglas coming out which they did 2 set of classic rock and roll songs by Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers, Bobby Darin, Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly and many others which in the first set also did Olivia Newton John, Glen Campbell and John Paul Young and there was an interval which I drank water. In the second set an Elvis tribute performer named Terry Leonard joined Issi and Glenn on stage doing 2 Elvis songs as well Issi and Glenn doing songs by Johnny O'Keefe, Col Joye and Neil Diamond. On Wendesday night June 4th I went to the Elvis Precinct to see the Elvis tribute show Hearts Of the King which had Che Oreton from New Zealand who I have seen before, Toki Toyokazu from Japan and Ted Torres Martin from the USA (last 2 which was the first time I've seen them live). The show started at 7.30pm with Elvis tribute performer Dean Vegas coming as the MC introducing the acts which the first act to come out was Che Oreton doing an few Elvis songs including Are You Lonesome Tonight, then Toki Toykazu came out wearing the light blue gear that Elvis wore in the 70's came out which he performed 4 songs including Can't Help Falling In Love and Ted Torres Martin came out which he did 4 songs including It's Now Or Never and Such A Night and there was an interval where I bought Coke with No Sugar, drank it and use mobile. This is from the Telegraph June 4th 1963 and now the classic hits station 4BH was one of Brisbane's popular radio stations at the time in the 60's which among their disc jockeys was John Taylor who did the show Ring A Request on Monday to Friday from 8am until 9am and from 12 noon until 4pm including Lady Luck and also was on Saturdays from 6.15pm until Midnight.

Back in April I saw on Lonnie Lee's facebook that Australian musician John Charter who played with Johnny Rebb and the Rebels and before that Alan Dale and the Houserockers had been farewelled which I learned that he had passed away which I was sad to see that and it is sad loss to Australian music and to his family including his wife singer Lynn Fletcher who came from Brisbane. He was born April 4th 1939 in Kingsford Sydney, started playing piano at age 8, playing in Australia's first rock and roll group Alan Dale and the Houserockers as well as playing in his own trio, formed Johnny Rebb and the Rebels in 1958 who would achieved success with hits including Hey Sheriff, Come On Let's Go and Pathway To Paradise that would last until 1960 as well as touring the Lee Gordon shows with Frankie Avalon, The Platters and Tommy Sands(March 1959), The Everly Brothers (May-June 1959), The big Beat with Lloyd Price, Linda Laurie, The Kalin Twins and Conway Twitty(July 1959), Johnny ...

In March-July 1974 British singer-songwriter Cat Stevens was doing an world tour which including Australia and Japan in June as the show in Japan was recorded at the Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo on June 22nd 1974 and it was released in Japan at the time due to contactual reasons between A&M and Island Records as the reason it was never released for the rest of the world as the proceeds from the album went to UNICEF and also it now released world wide. On the live album it has the songs that he had out at the time including the hits he had at that time Another Saturday Night, Oh Very Young, Peace Train and Father and Son as well as album tracks and there is liner notes by his bass player Bruce Lynch, road manager Carl Miller and Hallam Kite. On May 17th 1985 British rock band Dire Straits released their 5th album Brothers In Arms which was recorded at Air Studios in Montserrat in the West Indies and Power Station in New York where it was mixed and it went to number 1 in the UK, number 1 in the USA and number 1 in Australia. It was produced by Mark Knopfler and Neil Dorfsman which from the album had the singles So Far Away, Money For Nothing, Brothers In Arms, Walk Of Life and Your Latest Trick and it was also the first album in history to sell over 1 million copies in the CD format. It is now out on CD again as an 3CD set to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the album being released and on the 1st Cd it has the original tracks on the album and the 2 remaining CD's has an live performance they did in San Antonio Texas at the Muncipal Auditorium August 16th 1985 during the Brothers In Arms tour which they performed songs from the album as well as the hits they had at the time. In 1996 legendary Australian country singer Slim Dusty performed with his wife Joy McKean, children Anne and David Kirkpatrick and sister in law Heather McKean performed 2 special shows at the Tamworth Country Festival which was recorded by Andrew Rodd who was one of the road crew for Slim Dusty for 8 years and it is now on CD. Among the songs that were performed were an Patsy Cline Medley, an Johnny Cash song Orange Blossom Special and Slim's classic songs including Duncan, Pub With No Beer, When The Rain Tumbles Down In July, The Biggest Disappointment and many others. It is FANTASTIC with great songs and the sound quality is FANTASTIC and it holds up very well which it is well worth listening too hearing Australian country music legends. This is the new book written by Canadian guitarist and singer and member of Canadian rock group Triumph Rik Emmett and in this book he talks about the influences, the roots, the creative process with writing and recording as well as composing with the Telecaster guitar and the history of the guitar as well as the digital technology and many others. It is FANTASTIC and Excellent as well as very impressive and very entertaining which it is well worth an read and this is Rik Emmett's second book as he wrote his memoir Lay It On The Line about 2 years ago. I am giving this 4 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed and amazed.
