The Australian Buddy Holly Show @ Queen Elizabeth Park Stage

On Friday June 6th in the afternoon I went to the Queen Elizabeth Park Stage to see the Australian Buddy Holly show with Kris Knight and the last time I saw them live was nearly 3 years ago at Wynnum Bowls Club. The show started at 12.45pm and for the next 1 hour and 15 minutes Kris and the band did the Buddy Holly classics including Peggy Sue, Raining In My Heart, Heart Beat, That'll Be The Day and Oh Boy as well as doing other songs by Paul Anka (Diana), Jerry Lee Lewis and Eddie Cochran and everyone was enjoying themselves and having an great time and also Kris also mentioned on stage towards the end of the show that he will be finishing up doing the Buddy Holly Show this year. The show finished at 2pm, stopped at Woolworths where I bought crackers and Coke with No Sugar and walk back to the Twin Towns Sebel. It was an FANTATSIC show with Kris Knight doing an FANTASTIC job as always doing the Buddy Holly songs as well as the great rock songs as well as very entertaining giving the crowds an great time as well as an great show which it was and an everyone was having an great time and also backed by an great band including Mark Anthony on guitar. To Those who have not seen the show please do yourselves an favour and SEE IT which you will be impressed and amazed as well as being entertained by great rock and roll. Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song...

Memoirs of A Piano Man by John Charter

 This is the autobiography of Australian Pianist and musician John Charter and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Kingsford (Sydney), started learning piano at age 8, playing in Australia's first rock and roll band Alan Dale and the Houserockers, playing in his own trio, forming Johnny Rebb and The Rebels with Johnny Rebb who would achieve 6 top 40 hits from 1959-60 including Hey Sheriff and Pathway To Paradise, doing the Lee Gordon tours with the Everly brothers, Fabian , The Platters and Johnny Ray, doing Bandstand and Six O'Clock Rock, working with Slim Dusty, playing in the Sydney Club  and hotel Scene , forming his own group The John Charter Group, working in Vietnam and America with Digger Revell and many others.
