Australian Dusty Springfield Show @ the Elvis Marquee

On Saturday Afternoon June 7th I went to the Elvis Marquee to see the Australian Dusty Springfield Show that has Australian singer and actress Wendy Stapleton and it was my second time seeing Wendy live as the first one was at the Countdown Spectacular Concert at the Brisbane Entertainment Center on Saturday September 16th 2006 as well as watching her on Neighbours as Trixie Tucker (mother of Nina played by Delta Goodrem as well as the ex-wife of Lou Carpenter played by Tom Oliver). The show started before 12.40pm with Wendy coming on stage wearing white with her back up band including her husband Australian singer Paul Norton known for the 1989 hit Stuck On You and her daughter) and in that first set telling stories about Dusty Springfield and doing her hits including 2 with the Springfields as well as Covers of Motown songs and there was an interval which I had a look at 2 books I bought. The show started with Wendy dressing up in Black telling more stories about Dusty including Aretha Franklin turning down Son Of A Preacher Man and doing her hits as well as doing songs by Stevie Wonder, Martha and the Vandellas and the Ronettes as well as getting the crowd to sing along to Uptight. The show finished at 2.30pm, stopped at Subway where I bought an Turkey Roll for Mum and went to the Town Towns Sebel. It was an FANTASTIC show which Wendy did an FANTASTIC show doing Dusty Springfield as she had done it for many years as well as doing the Dusty Springfield songs very well as well as singing great along with her back up and the back up singers sounding great wearing the coloured dress in the first set and the black dresses in the second and also very entertaining giving the audience an great time as well entertainment too. I look forward to seeing Wendy again in the future and if you have not seen the Dusty show please do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed now. Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song...

Memoirs of A Piano Man by John Charter

 This is the autobiography of Australian Pianist and musician John Charter and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Kingsford (Sydney), started learning piano at age 8, playing in Australia's first rock and roll band Alan Dale and the Houserockers, playing in his own trio, forming Johnny Rebb and The Rebels with Johnny Rebb who would achieve 6 top 40 hits from 1959-60 including Hey Sheriff and Pathway To Paradise, doing the Lee Gordon tours with the Everly brothers, Fabian , The Platters and Johnny Ray, doing Bandstand and Six O'Clock Rock, working with Slim Dusty, playing in the Sydney Club  and hotel Scene , forming his own group The John Charter Group, working in Vietnam and America with Digger Revell and many others.
