4BH Top 40 charts October 1963
This is from the Telegraph October 18th 1963 and this was the 4BH Top 40 charts with Los Indois Tabajaras at number 1 with Maria Elena, The DeKroo Brothers at number 2 with their version of the Bob Wilson song (And Her Name Is) Scarlet, Jack Nitzsche at number 3 with the Lonely Surfer and The Town and Country Brothers at number 4 with Sandy Sandy. The new entries in the charts that week were Tommy Roe at number 29 with Everybody, The Delltones at number 31 with the song written by Sydney detective Ben Acton Hangin Five and Jimmy Gillmer and the Fireballs at number 40 with Sugar Shack and besides from the DeKroo Brothers and The Delltones the other Australian acts who were in the Top 40 that week were The Atlantics at number 13 with Bombora, Johnny O'Keefe at number 25 with Shake Baby Shake and the Denvermen at number 27 with Avalon Stomp. It was on this night in 1963 that the Brisbane music venue the Alley Cat Sound Lounge which was on Elizabeth Street in the city was opened with the Pacifics the Brisbane performing there and Ross D Wylie with the Kodiacs and the Doyle Brothers performed at Teensville in New Farm.
