4BH Top 40 charts August 1963

This is from the Telegraph August 30th 1963 and this was the 4BH Top 40 charts with the Atlantics at number 1 with the classic Bombora, Rob EG at number 2 with 55 Days At Peking, Gerry and the Pacemakers at number 3 with the song written by Mitch Murray who had written How Do You Do It I Like It and Elvis Presley at number 4 with Devil In Disguise which was written by Bill Grant, Bernie Baum and Florence Kaye. The new entries in the charts that week were Kai Winding at number 26 with More, Trini Lopez at number 30 with I had A Hammer which had been an hit for American folk trio Peter Paul and Mary the year before and originally done by the Weavers an American folk group in 1950, Al Martino at number 32 with Painted Tainted Rose, The Searchers at number 34 with their version of the Drifters song Sweets For My Sweet, Burt Bacharach at number 36 with Saturday Sunshine and the Beach Boys at number 38 with Surfer Girl and besides from The Atlantics and Rob EG the Australian acts in the charts that week were Frank Ifield at number 13 with I'm Confessin, The Denvermen at number 17 with Avalon Stomp and Johnny O'Keefe at number 22 with Move Baby Move. Among the shows in Brisbane on this day 62 years ago was Australian singer Noeleen Batley at Birdland with Brisbane group the Planets, Johnny Pal, Billy Thorpe and Peter James and Ross D Wyllie with his group the Kodiacs at Teensville in New Farm.
