4BK Top 10 August 1964

This is from the Telegraph August 19th 1964 and this was the 4BK top 10 charts with the Beatles at number 1 with the title track from their movie A Hard Day's Night, The Four seasons at number 2 with Rag Doll, The Animals who will be in Brisbane in November with original member John Steel was at number 3 with House of The Rising Sun, Cliff Richard who will be in Brisbane in November was at number 4 with Constantly, Dusty Springfield at number 5 with her version of the Dionne Warwick song Wishin and Hopin, Sounds Incoporated who were in Brisbane with the Beatles 2 months before in 1964 was at number 6 with The Spartans, Cilla Black at number 7 with You're My World, The Beatles at number 8 with the double sided Boys with Ringo Starr on lead vocals which was a cover of the Shirelles song that was from the Please Please Me album and Long Tall Sally which was a cover of the Little Richard song with Paul mcCartney on lead vocals, Brian Poole and the Tremeloes who were in Brisbane in April 1964 with Gene Pitney, Dusty Springfield and Gerry and the Pacemakers was at number 9 with their version of the Crickets song Someone Someone and the Beatles at number 10 with Can't Buy Me Love which was from A Hard Day's Night.

Vale Peter Flanagan(the Fauns/The Flanagans)

Peter Flanagan member of legendary Australian singing family group the Fauns aka the The Flanagans passed away on September 2nd aged 73 at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Peter along with brother Paul and Sister Margaret began as the Fauns in 1959 as they had been doing classical music training which they released 3 singles on the Leedon label- Dance With Me/Don't Take the Stars, We Should Be Together/While Susan Sleeps and Nursery Rhymes Rock and as the Flanagans they released 4 singles on the HMV label-He/Wonderland Of Love and Dreams(1965), Follow the Wind/Land OF Beyond(1965), You Were Meant FOr Me/That's How Man Began(1966) and This is My Song/For Bobby(1967). the group did appearances on Bandstand,Six O'Clock Rock, Teen Time, The Johnny O'Keefe Show, Sing Sing Sing, the Mike Walsh Show, IMT, Revue 61, Revue 62 and many others as well as performing on the Matt Munro TV special in 1966 as well as performing in the clubs too as well as co writing the song...

Memoirs of A Piano Man by John Charter

 This is the autobiography of Australian Pianist and musician John Charter and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Kingsford (Sydney), started learning piano at age 8, playing in Australia's first rock and roll band Alan Dale and the Houserockers, playing in his own trio, forming Johnny Rebb and The Rebels with Johnny Rebb who would achieve 6 top 40 hits from 1959-60 including Hey Sheriff and Pathway To Paradise, doing the Lee Gordon tours with the Everly brothers, Fabian , The Platters and Johnny Ray, doing Bandstand and Six O'Clock Rock, working with Slim Dusty, playing in the Sydney Club  and hotel Scene , forming his own group The John Charter Group, working in Vietnam and America with Digger Revell and many others.
