4BC Top 40 Charts June 1972
This is from the Telegraph June 16th 1972 and this was the 4BC top 40 charts with G Wayne Thomas at number 1 with Open Up Your Heart, Dr Hook & the Medicine Show at number 2 with their breakthrough single Sylvia's Mother, Badfinger at number 3 with the song produced by Todd Rundgren Baby Blue and Daniel Boone at number 4 with Beautiful Sunday. The new entries in the chart that week were Creedence Clearwater Revival at number 34 with their very last hit single Someday Never Comes, Donny Osmond at number 36 with his version of the Paul Anka song Puppy Love and the Fifth Dimension at number 38 with the song written by Tony Macaulay (Last Night) I Didn't Get To Sleep at All and besides from G Wayne Thomas the other New Zealand/ Australian acts in the charts were Robin Jolley with the song written by Brian Cadd Marshall's Portable Music Machine at number 9, Brisbane band Shepherd at number 30 with Birmingham Station, La De Das at number 31 with Morning Good Morning and John Paul Young at number 40 with the breakthrough song written by Harry Vanda ,George Young and David Hemmings who was from the 1966 movie Blow Up with Pasadena which was produced by Simon Napier Bell who had managed the Yardbirds back in the 60's. Ross Meldrum who was one of 4BC's disc jockeys at that time interviewed Soul Singer Issac Hayes on Sunday June 18th.
