4BC Top 40 charts June 21st 1974
This is from the Telegraph June 21st 1974(50 years Ago today) and this was the 4BC top 40 charts with Paper Lace at number 1 with Billy Don't Be A Hero written by Mitch Murray and Peter Callander, Suzi Quatro at number 2 with Devil Gate Drive written and produced by Queenslander Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn, Blue Suede at number 3 with their version of the BJ Thomas song Hooked On A Feeling and Marvin Hamlisch at number 4 with The Entertainer which was from the movie the Sting that starred Paul Newman, Robert Redford and Robert Shaw. The new entries in the chart that week were I Get A Little Sentimental Over by the New Seekers at number 39 and Jealous Mind by Alvin Stardust at number 40. The Australian acts who were in the charts that week were Johnny Chester at number 11 with She's My Kind Of Woman, Judy Stone at number 13 with Would You Lay With Me, Cash Backman at number 14 with his version of the Jim Staffoed song My Girl Bill which his version shared with the Jim Stafford version, Helen Reddy at number 17 with her version of the Austin Roberts song Keep On Singing, Jamie Redfern at number 18 with Hitch A Ride On A Smile, Digby Richards at number 24 with Do the Spunky Monkey, Sherbet at number 25 with Slipstream and Stevie Wright with the song written and produced by Harry Vanda and George Young Evie .
