4BK top 10 June 1964
This is from the Telegraph June 10th 1964(60 Years ago today) and this was the 4BK top 10 with Mary Wells at number 1 with the song written by Smokey Robinson My Guy which was her last hit single with Motown, The Beatles at number 2 with Can't Buy Me Love, Bill Haley and His Comets at number 3 with Rock Around The Clock which was re-released here in Australia on the Festival label as was 10 years when the song was first released, Elvis Prelsey at number 4 with the title track from the 1964 movie that he starred with Ann Margaret Viva Las Vegas, Millie at number 5 with My Boy Lolliopop, the boy from Moorooka Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs at number 6 with their version of the Coasters 1959 hit Poison Ivy, Terry Stafford at number 7 with his version of the Elvis Presley song Suspicion, Peter and Gordon at number 8 with the song written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney A World Without Love, The Searchers at number 9 with their version of the The Orlons song Don't Throw Your Love Away and The Beatles at number 10 with the instrumental Cry For A Shadow which they had recorded it in 1961 when they were the backing band for singer Tony Sheridan. It was actually that week 60 years on June 16th that Tony Sheridan played at TC's which was on ELizabeth Street with Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, Digger Revell , Warren Williams and Tony Worlsey and the Fabulous Blue Jays.
