  This is the memoir of Australian trumpeter and member of the Australian rock group  Hunters and Collectors Jack Howard  and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Melbourne, playing classical music in bands like The Victorian Youth Chamber Orchestra and Australian Youth Orchestra, joined an band called Hunters and Collectors  who would go on to great success with songs like the Holy Grail, Throw Your Arms Around Me, Say Goodbye and others, his solo work as well as playing with other bands including The Break, The Elwood Dads Band, the Horns of Contempt etc, working with the Living End, Midnight Oil, You Am I. Rodriguez and others. It's an FANTASTIC, Impressive and an Brilliant book with FANTASTIC and Brilliant stories told by Jack as well as an FANTASTIC read too. Then Play On by Fleetwood Mac

 In 1969 British rock band Fleetwood Mac released an album called Then Play On  which went to number 6 in the UK and number 109 in the USA  and it was the first album that guitarist Danny Kirwan played on having joined in 1968 as well as being the last album for lead guitarist and founding member Peter Green who left in 1970  which there were no hit singles on it   but they had an hit single at that time with Oh Well going to number 2 in the UK. number 55 in the USA and number 17 in Australia. It is now out on CD again  and on the re-issued album besides from the original tracks on it including Rattlesnake Shake, Showbiz Blues, Fighting For Madge, Searching For Madge there is bonus tracks including  the hit singles Oh Well and Green Manalishi in 1970 which Peter Green's last single with Fleetwood Mac. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with great songs  which has stood the test of time with great musicianship of Fleetwood Mac of  that time and there is an great booklet which

Cum On Feel The Hitz the Best of Slade by Slade

 This is the double CD compilation by the legendary British rock band Slade and this has  the classic recordings by the band from 1971-91 including Cum On Feel The Noize, My Oh My, Skeweez Me Pleeze Me, Coz I Love You, Run Runaway, Radio Wall Of Sound, Merry Xmas Everybody and many others. It's FANTASTIC, ROCKIN and SUPERB with AWESOME songs that has stood the test which they are just as good today even better  as it was back then as it is timeless and still well worth listening too. The band are still around with original founding member Dave Hill  and this is an must for Slade fans as well as fans of the 70's which I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you'll love it and be impressed. Steel Wheels Live Atlantic City New Jersey by the Rolling Stones

 In 1989 the Rolling Stones came back with an  album Steel Wheels  which it was their first album since Dirty Work in 1986  and went back on the road doing an North American tour later that year  which their first since 1981 and performed many of their classic hits as well as tracks from the album. One of the shows was filmed at Atlantic City New Jersey December 1989  which was pre pay view but was never released until now and at the show the Stones performed their classics as well as songs from the album with appearances by John Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton and 2 members of Guns N Roses Axel Rose and Izzy Stradlin. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with AWESOME songs which has stood the test of time and great playing by the Stones as well as the others musicians on stage as well as the back up singers as well as great showmanship by Mick Jagger. Stay With Me the Richard Perry Sessions Bobby Hatfield

 In 1971 record producer Richard Perry was at the start of an career as one of the successful record producers who had success with Barbara Streisand, an female rock band called Fanny and Nilsson  and Bobby Hatfield who had great success with the successful American duo the Righteous Brothers with classic hits including You've Lost That Lovin Feeling, Unchained Melody, Soul and Inspiration and others which  they broke up by 1971. They started to record songs at Apple Studios  which the musicians  that would play on it included Ringo Starr, Klaus Voorman and Al Kooper in December that year but unfortunately most of what was done never saw the light of day until this year. The songs on this CD has 2 solo singles he put in 1972 Stay With Me Baby and Oo Wee Baby I Love You as well as versions of George Harrison's What Is Life  and Sour Milk Sea and Marvin Gaye's Baby Don't You Do It.  This is the album by Beach Boys lead singer Mike Love which was released last year and I decided to do a review as I bought it at JBHiFi in the city yesterday.  This album has mainly covers including the Beatles Here Comes The Sun, Dave Clark Five' Over and Over, The Ramones' Rockaway Beach as well as re-recording of some Beach Boys song inclusing It's OK with the sibling singing trio Hanson, Surfin, Surfin Safari and others. it was produced by Scott Totten, sam Hollander, Josh Edmondson, Michael Lloyd and Paul Fausero It's an very good and an excellent album with great singing by Mike Love who is still with the Beach Boys who have just  done 2  shows in July and August and will be shows in October in Your Car Show in California and Arizona. This is an must for Beach Boys fans and I give it 4 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed. 

Sunday (The Gospel According To Iso) by Vika and Linda

 This is the new album by the Australian sister act Vika and Linda and it was recorded at Union Street Studio with Cameron Bruce as producer along with Vika and Linda as well as him playing on the album as well as doing backing vocals and the songs on this album are mainly covers   but it has 1 original song written by Kasey Chambers as well as Paul Kelly singing with them one 1 track. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC songs with an SUPERB vocals by Vika and Linda  and hearing these songs on this album is like you are at an church service as well as an gospel gathering. When lockdown happened in March this year in Melbourne during Covid 19 Vika and Linda sang one gospel song each week for their followers on social media which led them to do Sunday Sing Song. the album has gone to number 2 on the Australian charts and let's hope it goes to number 1 as they had an number 1 hit album recently with the compilation Akilotoa  Anthology (1994-2006). I give it 5 stars

Goats Head Soup by the Rolling Stones

 In 1973 the Rolling Stones released the album Goats Head Soup  which was recorded in Jamaica, London and Los Angeles   which it was produced by Jimmy Miller as it was the last Stones album he produced and it went to number 1 in the UK, USA and Australia. It was from the album that had the hit single Angie which was an USA number 1 hit as well as number 1 in Australia and number 5 in the UK as well as Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (heartbreaker) going to number 15 in the USA and Star Star going to number 7 in Switzerland, number 16 in the Netherlands and number 32 in Germany. It is now out again on CD  which I am reviewing the double CD edition  and on the first CD it has the original tracks  from the album but on the second CD it has some songs that were not on the album including Scarlet which Jimmy Page played on it as well as alternate mixes of some of the tracks as well as instrumental versions of certain tracks and an piano demo of one song. This is the new album by legendary British singer Billy Ocean  and it was recorded at Eve Studios in Stockport, East Bay Recording Studios in Terrytown New York and Kaleidoscope Recording Studio in Union City New Jersey. All the songs on this album are written by Billy Ocean and Barry J Eastmond who also produced the album . It's an FANTASTIC album with great songs which has an message   and Billy's vocal performance on this album is FANTASTIC which he is sounding great as ever at age 70. The album is currently at number 14 in the UK charts which it's his first chart album of new songs in the UK since the Tear Down These Walls album in 1988 when it went to number 3 in the UK as well as number 13 Australia and number 18 USA  but his last actual chart album was Time To Move On  which went to number 81 in Holland in 1993.  This afternoon  I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the documentary Slim and I which it's about Australian singer-songwriter Joy McKean and her husband the legendary Australian country singer-songwriter Slim Dusty. In this documentary she talks about  her having polio as an girl, singing with her sister Heather which they had an radio, meeting Slim Dusty who would become her husband, the touring years with her husband and children, her success as an songwriter as she wrote the songs for her husband as well as managing and many others as well as interviews with her children Anne and David Kirkpatrick, Keith Urban, Bill and Kasey Chambers, Missy Higgins, Paul Kelly, Glenn A Baker Troy Casser Daly and others.  This is the documentary about the legendary rock group the Band which was in part based of Robbie Robertson's 2016 memoir Testimony and he talks about his upbringing in Canada,  joining Ronnie Hawkins in the Hawks, recruiting Rick Danko, Richard Manuel and Garth Hudson that would become the classic line up of the Band, working with Bob Dylan, achieving success on their own with classic albums including Music From the Big Pink, The Band, Stage Fright, the issues with drugs with the other members etc and it has interviews with Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Peter Gabriel, John Simon who  produced the Band's first 2 albums as well as the Last Waltz, Martin Scorsese and many others.
