It's been about 5 years since I last did the classic album segment and tonight I decided to bring it back which I can start with the self titled album by American rocker Ritchie Valens. This was the only studio album he recorded and it was recorded at Gold Star Studio in Los Angeles California between 1958-59. It was released in March 1959 an month after the tragic plane crash that killed Ritchie, Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper at Clear Lake Iowa after doing the gig at the Clear Lake Surf Ballroom and it went to number 23 in the USA which was produced by bob Keane who owned Del Fi Records as well as managing Ritchie at the time. It has the 3 hit singles Come On Let's Go, Donna/La Bamba and That's My Little Suzie and an mixture of original songs written by Ritchie and covers including Boney Moronie the Larry Williams song and Bluebirds Over The Mountain the Ersel Hickey song.
