A Genesis In My Bed by Steve Hackett

This is the autobiography of British guitarist and member of the legendary British rock group Genesis Steve Hackett and in this book he talks about his upbringing in London, getting an harmonica at age 2, living in Canada, getting into guitar, playing in bands Canterbury Glass and Quiet World, joined Genesis in 1971 which he would last with them until 1977 as he was on 6 studio albums, 1 EP, 3 live albums and 7 singles, his solo work, working with Steve Howe in GTR and others. It's BRILLIANT, FANTASTIC and SUPERB with AWESOME stories as well as entertaining and impressive. Steve still performs  but not at the moment due to the corona virus  and last year released an album At The Edge Of Light which went to number 28 in the UK. This is an must for Genesis fans and I give it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be amazed. 

The Burnt Orange Heresy

On Friday I went to the South Bank Cinema to see the movie Burnt Orange Heresy. James Figueras (Cleas Bang) is an ambitious art critic  who meets Berniece Hollis (Elizabeth Debicki) an American  and are invited to the estate in Lake Como of art dealer Joseph Cassidy(Mick Jagger)  who is also the patron of Jerome Debney (Donald Sutherland)  who is an recluse. Cassidy wants James to steal an Debney masterpiece and it gets intersting. It's interesting and excellent with excellent acting by Cleas Bang, Elizabeth Debicki, Mick Jagger and Donald Sutherland  and it has an Hitchcock type of influence in the movie too. it's directed by Giuseppe Capotondi,  produced by David Zander, David Lancaster and William Horberg, Scott Smith did the screenplay and it's based on the novel by Charles Willeford. I give it 4 stars as it's in the cinemas now so do yourselves an favour and SEE IT which you will be amazed. 

Love Songs by Daryl Braithwaite

This is the new single by legendary Australian singer Daryl Braithwaite and this was written by Michael Fatkin who also produced the single, Rozzi Crane and Charlie Synder. It was originally written for American singer Pink which Fatkin had asked Braithwaite to forward it to Roger Davies who manages Pink  who also managed Sherbet in the 70's to see if Pink would like it but didn't received it and  told Braithwaite that it suited him better which it certainly does.   It's an FANTASTIC, SUPERB and an BRILLIANT song with great lyrics and an great sound as well as an great vocal performance by Daryl who is sounding great and is singing better than ever at the age of 71 which it's great to see. It's at number 43 on the Australian charts and it's an sure fire hit which should be in the Top 40 top 20 and maybe even Top 10. This is an must for Daryl Braithwaite fans and I give it 5 stars as it is in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will love

King Of Staten Island

On Saturday I went to the South Bank Cinema to see the movie King Of Staten Island. Scott Carlin (Pete Davidson) who lives with his mother Margie (Marissa Tomei) who is an nurse  and he is an high school dropout who lost his father who was an fireman in a fire when he was young, is unemployed, having medical problems,  constantly smoking marijuana and is hanging out with his friends including  Kelsey (Bel Powley) whom he is sleeping with her. Margie is having an relationship with Ray (Bill Burr) who is an fireman and Scott doesn't like him  which he wants to break them up. After having been thrown out by his mother as well as  his friends being in jail and  wanting to stay with Kelsey  but she doesn't want to he stays at the firehouse where Ray works and he helps out which starts getting interesting. It's excellent, very funny and very entertaining with excellent acting by Pete Davidson who also the screenplay with Dave Sirus and Judd Aptow, Marissa Tomei, Bill Burr, Bel Po

This is the autobiography of drummer and member of the legendary British rock group  The Hollies Bobby Elliott and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Burnley, taking an interest in Jazz at an young age, learning to play drums, first played in an local jazz trio, The Falcons and Ricky Shaw and the Dolphins which would feature 2 future Hollies Tony Hicks and Bernie Calvert, played in the Shane Fenton and the Fentones  which Shane would become Alvin Stardust in the 70's, joining the Hollies in mid 1963 which he is still with them to this day,  talking about the success they achieved in the 60's and 70's, the line up changes including the departures of Eric Haydock, Graham Nash and Allan Clarke which he came back, working with the Dave Clark Five, The Kinks, Elton John, Marianne Faithful, Sherbet, Burt Bacharach and many others.  It's AWESOME, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with FANTASTIC and Impressive Stories as well as very entertaining and an enjoyable read too and thi

American singer Jimmy Boyd who had the hit single I Saw Mommy Kissing in 1952 as well as hits Tell Me A Story with Frankie Laine number 4 in the USA in 1953 and The Little Boy and The Old Man number 24 USA and with Rosemary Clooney Dennis The Menace number 25 USA also in 1953 and in 1966 had an single with I Would Never Do That which was only an hit in Australia which went to number 58  and it was number 11 here in Brisbane  but I don't know about the other  cities which if anyone knows which I would appreciate your comments.  It was produced by Leon Russell and Snuff Garrett with JJ Cale doing the engineering .  

Homegrown by Neil Young

This is the new album by legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young and these songs were from June 1974-January 1975  which was recorded after the album On The Beach was released and before the making of Zuma. The tracks on it like the the other 2 albums was inspired  by Neil Young's relationship with actress Carrie Snodgress  which was fading in 1974 and was ready and due for release in 1975 but instead Tonight's The Night was out instead which this album was never released until now. It was recorded in Redwood City California, Los Angeles and London  and among the musicians who played on it were Robbie Robertson and Levon Helm of the Band as well as Emmylou Harris doing the backing vocals. It's an FANTASTIC album with great songs and an great sound and it's amazing that it's taken 45 years to be released but now it's here to be heard.  It's done very well which has gone to number 17 in the USA, number 2 in the UK and here in Australia number 17. Classic Movies Johnny Belinda (1948)

For this week's classic movies let's have a look at the 1948 movie Johnny Belinda.  Belinda MacDonald(Jane Wyman) who is deaf and Mute living on an farm with Her Father Black(Charles Bickford) and Aunty Aggie (Agnes Moorehead) in Canada's East Coast and then an new doctor Robert Richardson (Lew Ayres) takes an interest to help Belinda getting out of her silent prison by showing her sign language  as well as signs of many things and ideas. Stella (Jan Sterling) who is the secretary for the Doctor who is also attracted to him  and Locky McCormick (Stephen McNally) who is one of the family's customers gets drunk and rapes Belinda which leads her to  giving birth to a son Johnny and it gets interesting. It's an FANTASTIC movie with FANTASTIC acting by Jane Wyman who the Best Actress Oscar for her role as Belinda and Lew Ayres who was nominated as Best Actor with Charles Bickford nominated as Best Supporting Actor and Agnes Moorehead nominated as Best Supporting Actress

Nothing General About It by Maurice Benard

This is the autobiography of American daytime soap actor Maurice Benard and in this book he talks about his upbringing in San Francisco, his relationship with his father, doing stage work, working on the daytime soap All My Children playing Nico Kelly, joining General Hospital in 1993 playing Sonny Corinthos  which he is still there today, his issues with Bipolar Disorder and many others. It's FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and Impressive as well as very inspirational and very entertaining with great stories and an enjoyable read which I was very impressed. He is still on General Hospital which production has been suspended due to the Corona Virus  but hopefully is  ton start filming next Monday July 20th. This is an must for daytime soap fans and I give it 4 and an half stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you will be impressed. 

Classic Albums Cliff Sings by Cliff Richard (1959)

For this week's classic album segment let's have a look at the 1959 album Cliff Sings by Cliff Richard. This was his second album but his first studio album was Cliff which was live and it was recorded at Abbey Road Studios London from September 7th-9th 1959. It was released November 1959 which went to number 2 in the UK and it was produced by Norrie Paramour. This album had both rock and roll songs and traditional  pop standards with the Shadows and the Norrie Paramour Orchestra doing the backing and great versions of Mean Woman Blues, Here Comes Summer, Blue Suede Shoes, Twenty Flight, That's My Desire and others as there were no hit singles from the album as in those times artists had hit singles first before  making an album. It's an FANTASTIC album which holds up very well after all these years and still sounding great today as it did then with an great vocal performance by Cliff with great backing by the Shadows  as well as the Norrie Paramour as the songs really

Mayhem To Madness by the McClymonts

This is the new album by the Australian country sister singing group the McClymonts and this was recorded at Forbes St Studio Sydney, La Cuera Studio Byron Bay and the Grove Studio Somersby NSW. This was produced by Andy Mak who also plays on it  and the tracks on it which 9 are co written by Brooke, Samantha and Mollie  and the tenth is an cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic Little Lies which they do an great version of it. It's an FANTASTIC album with FANTASTIC songs as well as those great harmonies with an great country sound with bit rocky sound on some of the tracks. The album went to number 3 here in Australia  and they were due to tour but because of the Corona Virus  hasn't happened  which they will be back performing live in September as well as shows  up to December including Twin Towns on October 24th. This is an must for Australian country music fans as well as McClymonts fans and I give it 4 and an half stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour a
