Classic Albums- Green River Creedence Clearwater Revival

For this week's classic album segment let's have a look at the 1969 album by Creedence Clearwater Revival called Green River which it was their 3rd album. The recording for the album was held at Wally Heidern Studios in San Francisco California from March-June 1969 and they had done a experimental session prior to the recording of the album. The album was released on August 5th 1969 which it went to number 1 in the USA on October 4th 1969 knocking out the self titled album by Blind Faith where it stayed there for 4 weeks and no 20 in the UK and from the album it had 2 hit singles the title track number 2 in the USA with the B side Lodi @ number 52 and Bad Moon Rising also number 2 in the USA with the B side Commotion number 30. the album was produced by John Fogerty and the cover photo on the album was done by Basul Parik and also besides from the 2 hit singles as well as the b sides there is other great tracks on it including a cover of the Ray CHarles song Night Time Is the

Let's have a look at the legendary Australian music show Bandstand on DVD called the Best of Bandstand Volume 3 1965-66. Let's have a look at 3 DVD's of the legendary Australian music show Bandstand and it is TV specials that had international acts as well as a live show in Perth. For this week's classic album segment let's have a look at the 1975 album by legendary American group the Eagles. The recording for One Of These Nights was at Criteria Studios in Miami Florida and the Record Plant in Los Angeles California between 1974 and 1975 and it was released on June 10th 1975 which it went to number 1 on July 26th knocking out Venus and Mars by WIngs where it would stay @ number for 5 weeks and it was this album that the group became international superstars as well as being established as America's number 1 band. This album was the last album for original founding member Bernie Leadon who left the group after the One Of These Nights tour which he was replaced by Joe Walsh and from it had 3 hit singles the title track going to number 1 on August 2nd where it stayed there for 1 week, Lyin Eyes went to number 2 which it won them a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo Or Group With Vocal and Take it To The Limit number 4 as well as number 12 i

Johnny Cash Tribute @ Greenslopes Bowls CLub

Last Saturday September 14th I went to the Greenslopes Bowls CLub to see the Johnny Cash Tribute put together by Lori Lee and Robot Productions and it was my second time seeing it as my first was @ Morningside Services CLub on Saturday October 8th 2011 and also I had not been to Greenslopes since Sunday May 25th 2008 when I went there with Friendship Group doing Barefoot Bowls. Dad took me to the Bowls Club which before the show I had dinner and I had steak,chips and salad which was very nice. The show started @ 8.15pm with the Mean Eyed Cats which included Jon Flynn on double bass and Dan Nosovich on guitar which they do 2 songs of Johnny Cash in the 3 sets and the first performer came on was Mike Erroll, Kevin and Andy Dashwood which they performed a few Johnny Cash songs each and there was a interval which I had a Coke Zero. the second set had Paulie Burke, Junior Hickey and Scotty from the Hi Boys doing a few Johnny Cash songs each and there was another interval which I bought

Whole Lotta ACDC @ Moreton Bay Sports Club

Last Friday September 13th I went to the Moreton Bay Sports CLub where I saw the AC/DC tribute band WHole Lotta AC/DC which it was my first time seeing them as well as seeing a AC/DC tribute show too. The show started @ 8.30pm with the support act Prime Minsters Of Australia doing a short set with classic Australia rock n roll songs including Run To Paradise, Don't Change A Thing, Good times and others and there was a interval which I had a drink a water as well as competition to see who was the best dressed for the night as people were dressing up too. Then the Whole Lotta ACDC came on stage and for the next hour and a half the band did a great set doing the classic AC/DC songs from the 70's-90's of both the Bon Scott and Brian Johnston eras and the singer Andre Lemberg did a great job doing those eras very well and everyone in the crowd was enjoying themselves including those who had dressed up for the night even the staff were wearing different things too which was gre

For this week's classic album segment let's have a look at the 1958 album by American country singer Johnny Cash called the Fabulous Johnny Cash. This album was his first for Columbia Records which he signed with them in 1958 after being @ Sun Records for 3 years and it was recorded in Nashville from July-August 1958 which it was released in November 1958 where it went to number 19 in the US album charts. It was produced by Don Law and the musicians on the album besides from the Tennessee Two Luther Perkins on guitar and on double bass Marshall Grant among the others were Don helms on steel guitar, on drums marvin Palmer and the legendary singing group the Jordanaires are on background vocals. In February 2014 legendary American singer Bobby Rydell known for hits like Swinging School, Sway, THe Cha CHa Cha, Wild One,Forget him and many others will be touring Australia which it will be his farewell tour and he has toured more than 20 times which he toured first here was in may 1960 promoted by American Lee Gordon. In his show he performs his hits from the 60's as well as doing a Bobby Darin segment and he puts on a FANTASTIC show which everyone enjoy themselves. It has been 3 and bit months since I last did the classic album segment and now it's back so let's have a look at the 1965 album by the Beach boys called The Beach Boys Today. By the end of 1964 the Beach Boys were one of the top groups along with the Beatles having successful top 10 hits including the US number 1 hit I Get Around which was at the height of Beatlemania as well as having 4 albums released that year and touring including Australia, New Zealand and Europe and it was on December 23rd 1964 that musical leader Brian Wilson suffered a nervous breakdown on the plane going to Texas as he was physically and emotionally exhausted which it would eventually led Brian to stop touring and focus his attention on creating and producing music which he told the other members in January 1965 during the recording of a album that would be The Beach Boys Today and his spot on the road was taken for a time by session musician Glen Campbell who would eventually become a huge successfu

See You There is the new album by legendary American country singer Glen Campbell. In 2011 during the recording sessions of the Ghost Of the Canvas album Glen Campbell recorded songs that included new versions of some of hits big hits in the 60's and 70's as well as new tracks which the producers added new instrumentation and sanded the new arrangements to some of the oldies like Gentle on My Mind. It is a excellent album with excellent singing by Glen Campbell which sadly as we all know that he has Alzheimer's but he does sound great and the arrangements on the songs are excellent too a job well done. It was recorded at the The Doghouse recording studios in New York and Studio City Sound in California with Dave Darling and Dave Kaplan producing it which Dave also plays guitar and does the mixing it as well, Glen Campbell's wife Kim is the executive producer, engineers were Tom Weir, Ryan Lipman and Neil Citron and among the musicians that played on it were Carl Seal

Glenn Shorrock 45 Years Of Song

45 Years Of Song is the live double CD by legendary Australian singer-songwriter Glenn Shorrock. In 2010 Glenn Shorrock performed 2 shows as part of 45 Years Of Song which he played in Sydney and Melbourne and it was in Melbourne @ the Regent Theater on July 16th 2010 that the show was recorded and filmed which he was backed up by a band that had Angus Burchall on Drums, Pip Joyce on guitar and backing vocals, Alejando Vega on perscussion, Jason Vorherr on bass and backing vocals, Stewart Wilkinson on Keyboards and backing vocals and Gary Young on guitar and backing vocals as well as a 4 piece horn and string sections and it was released on DVD in 2011 and also it is out on CD as a Double CD. Last Night September 6th I went to Kedron Wavell to see legendary Australian singer Daryl Braithwaite which it was my 5th time seeing him live and had only bought my ticket on Wednesday in the city @ Ticketmaster. I caught the bus to Chermside from Cannon Hill and had Nachos for dinner as well as having Sundae for desert as well as buying a ticket for the Normie Rowe show on November 15th. The show started @ 8.45pm with Daryl Braithwaite coming on stage and for the next 1 hour and 25 minutes he did a whole set doing his solo hits from the 80's as well as some of the Sherbet stuff as well as doing other people's songs including a great version of I'll Be Gone as well as a new song from a CD that he will be releasing very shortly with a great back up band with Geoff Wells on guitar, john Corniola on Drums, Mark AMato on keyboards and on guitar David Campbell as well as the show was packed with plenty of people filling in the seats which most of the crowd who out in front we

Legendary Australian singer Normie Rowe known for hits back in the 60's with it Ain't Necessarily So, Que Sera Sera, Shakin All Over, It's Not Easy, Ooh La La, I who Have Nothing etcwill be playing 3 QLD shows later in the year. In January 2014 legendary British 60's group the Searchers known for hits like Sweets For My Sweet, Sugar and Spice, Don't Throw Your Love Away, Needles and Pins, When You Walk In the Room and many others will be starting another Australian tour on the 31st and it will last until MArch 9th which will go through NSW, Queensland,ACT and Victoria. The Avengers @ Easts Leagues Club

On Saturday August 31st I went to Easts Leagues Club to see the Brisbane group the Avengers which it was my 17th time seeing them and my 8th time seeing them this year as it was part of my birthday weekend. The show started @ 7.30pm and for the next 4 hours they did 4 sets of classic rock and pop songs by Elvis presley, Buddy Holly,Cliff Richard,The Bee Gees, Roy Orbison, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Chuck Berry and added new songs by the Rolling Stones and the Shadows and also it was my first time seeing the guitarist Graeme Rabnott for 4 months as he had been on holidays which the last 2 times I saw them @ Easts on Sunday June 30th and Friday JUly 12th Glenn was playing with them and he will be playing with them again as Graeme is going on holidays again.
