Abbey Road by the Beatles

It's 50 years ago this month when the Beatles released the album Abbey Road which went to number 1 in the UK, USA and Australia and from the album had the double sided hit Something/Come Together as well as great tracks on it including Octopus' Garden written and sang by Ringo Starr, Here Comes The Sun written by George Harrison which he sang lead besides from Something which he wrote that too as well as Lennon-McCartney compositions including Oh Darlin, I Want You(She's So Heavy) as well as medleys as well the End with an great drum solo done by Ringo. This album was the last album they recorded even though they had recorded songs that would be on Let It Be as they would release it in 1970 and broke up in that same year but they have left behind great music which we still hear today and it is now released again as it's as I mentioned 50 years when it was released which I am reviewing the double CD edition as there is the single CD which has the original tracks as we

This afternoon I went to the Balmoral Cinema with Mum where we saw Ride Like A Girl which it's the true story of Australian jockey Michelle Payne. Michelle(Teresa Palmer) who as an little girl dreams to be and wants to win the Melbourne Cup which she is trained by her father Paddy(Sam Neil) and had early failures she is getting there but has an serious injury which could have ended it all but is determined to achieve her dream with the love and support of her dad and brother Stevie Payne which he plays himself does not give up and against medical advice as well as the concerns of her siblings goes back to riding and starts to ride the Prince of Penzance which they would go through impossible odds to achieve that is the 2015 Melbourne Cup. Another Day In The Life by Ringo Starr

This the photography book by Beatles member Ringo Starr and in this book photos over the years from the 60's up to now including with the All Star Band, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison , Joe Walsh (his brother in law) and many others as well as the telling stories about the photos too. It's BRILLIANT, FANTASTIC and SUPERB with fantastic photos and stories as well as being very entertaining and an impressive as the photos goes through the journey between then and now as well as enjoyable too. Ringo has an new album coming out What's My Name and has just done an North American tour with the All Star Band. This is an must for Beatles fans as well as Ringo Starr fans which I give it 5 stars and it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you'll love it.

This is the memoir of the drummer and founding member of legendary American rock band The Black Crowes and in this book he talks about playing in his first band Mary My Hope, joined Mr Crowe's Garden which had the Robinson brothers Chris and Rich who would become the Black Crowes, achieving huge success with albums like Shake Your Money Maker and the Southern Harmony and Musical Companion as well as the singles like Hard To handle and Twice As Hard, working with people like Robert Plant, The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Page, Oasis, the tensions between the Robinson brothers and many others. Backbone by Status Quo

This is the new album by legendary British rock n roll band Status Quo and it was recorded at ARSIS Studio. This is the first Quo album without Rick Parfitt who passed away nearly 3 years ago and on this album most of the tracks are written by Francis Rossi including with long time members Andy Bown and John Edwards as well as Robert Young as well as songs by current members Leon Cave and Richie Malone. It's AWESOME, ROCKIN and SUPERB with great songs and an great sound which still sounds great today and it just ROCKS. Francis Rossi produced this album as well as the mixing with Andy Brook who did the mastering and the engineering. This album has gone to number 6 in the UK and number 98 in Australia and the Quo are going back on the road next year with an European tour which I hope they come to Australia. This is an must for Status Quo fans and I am giving it 5 stars as it's in the shops now so do yourselves an favour and BUY IT which you'll love it.

Rockin Bodgies @ Carina Leagues Club

On Saturday I went to Carina Leagues Club to see Brisbane rock and roll group The Rockin Bodgies which it was my first time seeing them live since Saturday December 28th 2012 even though I heard them at Twin Towns Sunday June 8th 2014 during Cooly Rocks On. Dad took me to the club, had Nachos for dinner, had triple treat slice for desert, drank Coke Zero, did writing and saw an friend of my brother and Sister Kathy with her partner Rob, daughter Chantelle whom I had not seen since she was an baby and her partner. The show started @ 8pm which they did 3 sets as they performed songs by the Beatles, Gene Vincent, del Shannon, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Bobby Darin and others and Mike did most of the lead vocals with some by Keiron and the piano player as their musician who plays in the band is on holidays and also I saw an lady named Krystal who goes to some gigs which I use to see her at the Avengers shows too and also had Coke Zeros during the break. Tonight I went to the Balmoral Cinemas to see the movie Good Boys. Max(Jacob Tremblay), Thor(Brady Noon) and Lucas(Keith L Williams) are in 6th grade and each are going through personal issues with Max has an liking for class Brixlee(Millie Davis), Thor has an liking of singing but is getting teased from others and Lucas has just learnt that his parents are getting an divorce. Woman Of Rock Show @ Easts Leagues Club

On Saturday night I went to Easts Leagues Club where I saw the Women Of Rock show with Joanne Elbers who does the Gold Dust Woman which it's an Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks tribute show as well as Rush Hour and it was my 4th time seeing Joanne as well as my 2nd time this year as I saw the Gold Dust Woman show @ Easts on May 11th this year. Dad took me to Easts, went to Drysdale's where I saw Steak, Chips and Salad for dinner, drank Coke, went to the Coffee Shop where I had an Belgian Vanilla Waffle with Ice Cream and saw Johnny who I know from the gigs. The show started @ 8pm with Joanne and the band coming which she did songs by Stevie Nicks, chrissie Amphlett, Cindy Lauper and Debbie Harry which she wore different clothes and wigs which between those segments the guys in the band did songs by John Paul Young, Rick Springfield and others and there was an interval which I had an Coke Zero to drink which the second set started with Joanne coming back on stage which she did

Downton Abbey

This afternoon I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie Downton Abbey. It's 1927 and King George V(Simon Jones) and Queen mary(Geraldine James) are coming to Downton Abbey for an parade and staying the night and the staff at Downton are to help but then the people who work for the King and Queen come to the castle and they take over the proceedings as well as Mr Carson (Jim Carter) the butler who retired but comes back to help as well as issues with Violet (Maggie Smith) and Lady Bagshaw (Imelda Staunton) about inheritance and others which gets interesting. This is the autobiography of English guitarist and songwriter as well as member of the English groups Dead Or alive, The Sisters of Mercy and The Mission Wayne Hussey and in this book he talks about his upbringing in Bristol which he was raised as an Mormon, first getting guitar in the early 70's, played in local bands like Stockdove, Bread, Humpin and Rough Justice, moved to Liverpool where he played with Foxglove, De Byrds and Hambi and the Dance, joined Dead Or Alive in 1981 which he was with them for 2 years which he was on 1 album, an EP and an single and from 1983 until 1985 joined the Sisters of Mercy which he was on 1 album, an EP and 3 singles and many others. This afternoon I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie The Farewell. Bili Wang (Awkwafina) an Chinese born American raised who lives in New York has been in touch with her grandmother Nai Nai (Zhao Shuhzen) as well as been rejected for a fellowship and discovers from her parents Haiyan(Tzi Ma) and Jian(Diana Lin) that Nai Nai has got terminal lung cancer and got 3 months to live they go over to China to see her but they cannot tell her about her illness which they make an excuse that they are going for a wedding as well as getting the family together and they go over there which Bili is reluctant to go there initially but goes there and also learns that a lot to celebrate including rediscover the country she left as an child as well as her grandmother's wondrous and it gets interesting. This afternoon I went to the Dendy Cinema Coorparoo to see the music documentary Amazing Grace. It's 1972 and legendary American soul singer Aretha Franklin is in Los Angeles to record an live album with her band and Rev James Cleveland and the Southern California Community Choir which they did it at the New Bethel Baptist church in Watts Los Angeles California. Sydney Pollack the director was hired to film the recordings but due to technical problems it was never released until now and the live album was an huge success. This documentary shows Aretha in her peak doing the gospel songs that would be on the album and among the audience were Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts as well as gospel singer Clara Ward and Aretha's Father Rev CL Franklin and also the audience were enjoying it too.
