The Pacific Belles @ Queen Elizabeth Park Stage Coolangatta

 On Friday morning I went to the Queen Elizabeth Park Stage  in Coolangatta  to see the Pacific Belles who are an local group and it was my first time seeing them. I came to the Park at about 9.50am which it had started 20 minutes early and for the rest of set they did  mainly the Andrews Sisters classic songs as well as doing an great version of the Oasis' song Wonderwall which they did it so well with everyone enjoying themselves as well as seeing Tyler, Leeanne, Ray and Sue. The show finished at a10.30pm and waited for the  next act. It was an FANTASTIC show with great singing  by the ladies which they sounded so good and entertaining the crowds  as well as everyone having an great time. The Lucky Comets @ Greenmount Surf Club

 On Thursday June 10th I went to the Greenmount Surf Club to see the Lucky Comets aka Lucky Seven an swing band from Adelaide and it was my first time seeing them. I walked to the Surf Club and did the check in. The show started at 7pm which for the 2 hours  the band did 2 sets of the classic Bill Haley songs as well as the song Giddy Up A Ding Dong by Freddie Bell and the Bellboys and at the show I saw Lorraine , Graham and Tracey  whom I had not seen for 2 years  which was great seeing them as well as Lorraine having an selfie with me. Everyone enjoying themselves and the band members  all wearing hats. The show finished at 9pm, rang Dad and walk back to the holiday unit. It was an FANTASTIC show which everyone had a great time and I enjoyed it too and the Lucky Comets aka Lucky Seven were FANTASTIC as well as playing great  doing those Bill Haley songs which I think they are the first band in Australia to do an Bill Haley  and the Comets show  and I hope they come back to Cooly Rock

Buckley's Chance

 Yesterday I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the new Australian movie Buckley's Chance. Ridley (Milan Burch) and his mother Gloria (Victoria Hill) fly to Australia from New York to meet up with Spencer (Bill Nighy) who is the father of Gloria's husband who had died  and there is conflict between Spencer and Ridley who is trying to connect to learn about life in the outback  but then  gets lost  in the outback and he gets help from an dingo whom he saved from a leg trap which they developed an bond and they fight to survive to get Ridley home which gets interesting. It is FANTASIC, BRILLIANT and very entertaining with great acting  by Bill Nighy, Victoria Hill, Milan Burch, Martin Sacks and Kelton Pell. It's directed by Tim J Brown and Mick Ridger and produced by Tim J Brown, Andrew Mann, Gilbert Adler, Todd Giroux and Scott Clayton and also Tim J Brown did the screenplay with Willem Wennekers. It's an feelgood Australian movie  and an great story with a family coming

The King Rocks On

 On Wednesday June 9th I went to the Elvis Precinct  to see the Kings Rocks On Show as there were 5 Elvis Performers coming on stage doing an  couple Elvis Presley songs each. I went to the Precinct,  did the check in, went inside which I found a seat and waited. The show started at 7.30pm with Dean Vegas doing the compering which he was great introducing the acts and Paul Fenech came on first which he did a few Elvis songs, Stuey V came on next  which he did a few Elvis classics including Come On Everybody, Matt Birse was  the 3rd Elvis act on stage which he did a few Elvis classics including Way Down, Brody Finlay came on which he did a few Elvis classics including Heartbreak Hotel and the last act for the show was Brendan Chase which he a few Elvis Songs including It's Now Or Never and then at the end all 5 of the performers came on stage together doing 2 Elvis classics. The show finished at 9pm, rang Dad,  Stopped @ 7-11 where I bought Coke Zero and Ice Cream, ate Ice Cream, Dr

From the Vine

 On Sunday I went to the Balmoral Cinema to see the movie From the Vine. Marco Gentile (Joe Pantoliano) an successful businessman and lawyer  in Canada gives up  his job goes over to Italy where he came from  to revive his grandfather's vineyard in Acerenza   with help of the locals who knew him  which despite his wife Marina(Wendy Crewson) and daughter Laura's (Paula Brancati) concern gets interesting. It is excellent, very funny and very entertaining with excellent acting Joe Pantiliano, Wendy Crewson and Paula Brancati and it has an feel good feeling as well as humor and light hearted too which it is well worth seeing. It is directed by Sean Cisterna  who also produced it with Kyle Bornais, Paula Brancati and Francesco Papa and I give it 4 stars as it's in the cinemas now so do yourselves a favour and SEE IT which you will be amazed and entertained. 

Cousins

 On Tuesday I went to the South Bank Cinema where I saw the movie Cousins. 3 cousins are connected but have been separated by circumstances  Mata was stolen from her whanau and is placed in an orphanage  which she is looked after by a guardian Mrs Parkin and lives in fear and bewilderment in her childhood and is only saved by her imagination. Makareta who is educated and is destined to become Princess of the tribe escapes an arranged marriage. Missy takes  her place as the bride amalgamating the land as well as taking the mantle of kaitiaki which is guardian in Maori. Makareta and Missy do achieve success  which Makareta as a lawyer and Missy in charge of the land  but for Mata is not doing well as her marriage ends as when she is not capable of an physical love as well as looking after her friend's baby and when that was taken away from her she  goes on the streets and it gets interesting. It is FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT and SUPERB with amazing acting by Briar Grace Smith, Tanea Heke a

Dream Horse

 On Thursday I went to the movie cinema at Coolangatta to see the movie Dream Horse. Jan Vokes(Toni Collette) is an publican as well as an working in an supermarket starts to take an interest in race horses  and meets Howard Davies (Damian Lewis) who is an tax dealer who had dealt with horses   which she and along with her husband Brian (Owen Teale) who gets an horse named Rewbell and sadly not long after that Rewbell passes away. But they have a foal named Dream Alliance and with the help of her neighbours they chip in their earnings to help raise Dream  in the hope to race in the elites  and it  gets interesting. It is FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with Top and Brilliant acting by Toni Collette, Damian Lewis and Owen Teale and and it is an amazing story of how the horse has achieved and how she did it.  Toni Collette does an great job doing the Welsh accent and this is one of her finest performances that she has done in her career. It is directed Euros Lyn and produced by Katherine Butler

Australian Stories In Song with Michael Fix and Mark Cryle @ the City Hall

 This afternoon I went to the City Hall to see the show Australian Stories In Song with Michael Fix who is singer-songwriter who is based here in Brisbane and Mark Cryle who is also an singer-songwriter also from Queensland. The show started at 12pm and for nearly both Michael and Mark performed the songs that is on their current album Timelines which includes the title track, Quarantine referencing to the Spanish Flu and Covid, Eddie Gilbert Dream,  Rock and Roll George and others and both of took a go doing lead vocals as well as Michael played electric guitar as well as acoustic while Mark played acoustic guitar as well as bass guitar as well as an musician named Hugo joined them on stage throughout the show. It finished before 1pm, they were selling CD's  which people who stood in line bought them  including myself, went to Subway for lunch and came home. It was an Fantastic show which everyone themselves and I had a great time hearing the songs they did which was great too as

 This is the autobiography of actress Cicely Tyson and in this book she talks about her upbringing in New York, her parents' separation,  her 2 marriages including to Jazz Musician Miles Davis, becoming an model, started acting the 50's, doing movies including Carb Gold, The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter, Sounder, The Help, The Blue Bird and Bustin Loose, doing TV like Guiding Light, Roots and A Woman Called Moses, working with George Cukor, Jane Fonda, Martin Ritt and Richard Pryor and many others. It is FANTASTIC and BRILLIANT with Amazing and impressive stories as well as very entertaining and an great read talking about growing up in the 30's and 40's as well as starting in the 50's but becoming big in the 70's. Cicely passed away in January this year aged 96  but has left an great legacy in movies and television  which will live on forever and this book was collaborated with Michelle Burford who  has worked on 10 memoirs as well as an editor of O, The Oprah Maga

Minamata

 Yesterday afternoon I went to the South Bank Cinema to see the movie Minamata. It's 1971 and W Eugene Smith (Johnny Deep) known for his numerous photographic essays which  was published in Life magazine and also is an recluse. He initially turns down an commission from Robert Hayes(Bill Nighy) to go back to Japan to investigate the Minamata being poisoned but it's only when Aileen (Minami) an Japanese translator urges him to do he goes and he documents what is happening with the mercury poisoning and Minamata disease in the costal areas. The Chemical company Chisso is linked with the poisoning which was caused by industrial pollution and Eugene must win the trust to the broken community which he has to find the images to show the world as well as getting threatened. It is sad, Fantastic and Brilliant with top and Brilliant acting by Johnny Deep, Bill Nighy , Minami and  Hiro Sanada . Johnny Depp was one of the producers along with Kevan Thompson, Sam Sarkar and Andrew Levitas
